ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Girls
Akawkaw Ndipagbor, So., Poly
The Jackrabbits sprinter took first in the 200- and 400-meter dashes at the CIF-SS Division I track and field prelims at Trabuco Hills High. She ran a 24.00 in the 200 and a 53.54 in the 400 and qualified as the leading contender for the finals on Saturday.

Boys
Jonathan Worrell, Sr., Lakewood
The big right-hander did what no one else could do in the Moore League this season - beat Millikan. He tossed a two-hit shutout with seven strikeouts, leading the Lancers to a 4-0 win in the regular-season finale.

Athlete of the Week for the week of May 18-22nd 2009 to Sebastian Frutos from Bellflower High who beat Burbank High in a wild card DIV II game on Tuesday may 19th. Complete game, 8 Innings, 7 strikeouts and scattered 9 hits for a 5-2 win.
