The CIF State Volleyball pairings were just released and they weren't necessarily kind to the three - yes, three - local teams.

First-round games are Tuesday, second round Saturday and the SoCal Regional championship matches Dec. 1. The State title matches are Dec. 5 at UC Irvine's Bren Center.

Los Alamitos, the Division IAA runner-up, will travel to top-seeded and Division IA champ Dos Pueblos on Tuesday in a Division I match.

Cerritos, the Division IIIA runner-up, will go to No. 3-seeded and Central Section champ Tehachapi in the first round in a Division III match.

Also getting in to the Division III field was Warren, which fell eventual Division IIIAA champ Los Altos in the semifinals, received the final berth and will play at top-seeded and San Diego champ Cathedral Catholic in the first round.

Way to go to all of our local CIF contenders! But-second round on Thursday? Seriously?? Who in their right mind planned this? Are those who will be scoring, reffing, opening the doors and turning the lights going to be paid double/triple time for their time? With the State Budget the way it is, come on people, were are your heads? You know nobody will work for free.

Please forgive the mistatke, as the second round of the CIF State Volleyball Tournament is SATURDAY, not Thursday. Of course, we will able be sitting around eating turkey, etc. and watching the Lions lose another football game.
