Good showing for Rams girls water polo

The Millikan High girls 18-under and 16-under water polo teams both captured second place in the John Hale Tournament in Arroyo Grande on California's Central Coast on Sunday.

The Rams varsity team won its first four games Saturday and Sunday before falling to the host team, 9-1.

In the first rounds of the tournament, Millikan defeated Santa Ynez, 9-1, Ventura, 4-1, Clovis, 6-5, and West Valley, 7-5. The Rams' offense was propelled by senior Christine MacLennan and junior Emily Matheson while junior goalie Alana McKean led the defense. The Rams are coached by Al Reyes.

Earlier, the frosh-soph team beat Atascadero, 5-3, Arroyo Grande, 8-4, and Buena, 8-7. The Rams were defeated, 12-0, by Arroyo Grande in the championship game. The Rams are coached by Kallie Berry and Roy Contreras.
