Athletes of the Week
Boys
Danny Martinez, Jr., St. John Bosco
The Braves' star harrier ran a career-best 14:44 over a 2.91-mile course at the 64th annual Mt. SAC Invitational cross country meet Saturday. Martinez's time was the second-fastest of the meet and set SJB and area records, pacing the Braves to third place in the Division III team competition.

Girls
Joy Miley, Jr., Downey
The middle blocker/outside hitter was on her game last week, helping the Vikings to a pair of wins and the SGVL title. Miley recorded a match-high 27 kills in a four-set victory over rival Warren and then had 10 kills, five blocks, four aces and two digs in a 3-0 victory over Gahr.
