Darius Powe, a star wide receiver at Lakewood High the past three years, has made a verbal commitment to University of California.
"Oregon State was definitely my leader, but Cal was such a great fit for me," Powe told ESPN.com. "I didn't know I was going to like it as much as I did, but I knew right away it was the best place for me."
Powe caught 19 passes for 389 yards and five touchdowns as a sophomore, he had 43 receptions for 822 yards and six touchdowns as a junior and 36 catches for 560 yards and nine touchdowns in his recently concluded senior season.
