No waiting -- step right up and vote!
When I went to my polling place, the Linda Vista fire station, this morning at 8:20 to vote, the combined precincts there were staffed by eight election workers.
But after the polls had been opened already for an hour and 20 minutes, poll worker Bill Denzell informed me that I was the sixth person to have shown up.
More poll workers than actual voters.
Admittedly, there is just one race on the ballot -- the PCC Board of Trustees Area 1 contest between incumbent Geoff Baum and PCC student Steven Gibson.
Not exactly Obama-Palin, er, McCain.
Still and all -- Pasadenans are always going on about their love for their city college. What could be more important than deciding on a crucial leadership issue at the college?
Where is the love, people? Where are the votes?
Polls stay open until 8. Take those election officials away from their novels and newsapers and give them something democratic to do.
Comments
Maybe the Pasadena Star News would actually get around to revealing the specific allegations of incompetency and malfeasance surrounding recently-deposed PCC President Paulette Perfumo.
Then again, considering Larry Wilson's intense sympathies for the public education cabal, maybe the Star News WON'T ever get around to revealing the specific allegations.

Isn't it coincidental that both Ramon Miramontes and Berlinda Brown were key figures in Robin Salzer's council campaign in 2007. Nobody heard of these two when they pulled papers. They ran the same type of grassroots type of campaign that Robin ran and won. Robin had to unfortunately deal with the racist tirades from Joe Hopkins or he would have won as well. What has this guy started here? Talk on the street is that he's not thru with politics and that his team is plotting other races. Will it be Robinson or Madison? Who else from their camp is going to run. Watch these guys. Somethings up.

Salzer & Miramontes are up to something. Salzer is financially stronger than Madison and Miramontes has the unions. I won't discount Madison financially or unionwise but these guys are sharp. It will an interesting 2011. A more prudent idea for the city would be for Salzer or Miramontes to knock out Robinson like they did Castro with Berlinda Brown.
