100,000 miles

I remember in 1982, in graduate school at Thunderbird in Glendale, Arizona, pulling over to the side of the country road when my 1972 Volvo 145E’s odometer rolled over to 100,000 (analog) miles and taking a (film) picture of it …

So the other night, when my 2003 Mini Cooper did the same, I pulled over to the curb outside the Norton Simon Museum on Colorado Boulevard and snapped this six-figure shot.

Volvo was running a little rough at that time in its life. Cooper is running like a top …

My Hyundai Sonata turned over 100,000 miles about a month ago. It’s a 2000 model but it still runs like a top and I wouldn’t trade it in for anything (plus it’s great not having car payments anymore!).

I took it in for its 100,000 mile checkup and the doctor, er mechanic said the engine’s just grand. They last much longer nowadays with a little loving care than they used to.

    Congrats on your milestone!

Larry, think of all the damage you’ve done to the planet by driving hundreds of thousands of miles when you could have just taken the bus, ridden a bicycle, or walked.

What a selfish little goblin you are.

I’m a little confused here. How does riding a bus not contribute to the creation of greenhouse gases? They’re pretty stinky if you ask me.

I admit it is unusual that I found a post that I can’t find a few things wrong with it. This might actually be an exception. I don’t see any huge grammatical mistakes, nothing extremely dumb talked about, and a theme that doesn’t look like a toddlers pain easle. Am I impressed? Maybe; but definitely better than average.
