Norm and Chamber no more

| | Comments (9) |
Michelle Alonzo, vice president of the Chamber of Commerce, sent out an e-mail today saying the chamber and its CEO, Norm MacKenzie, have parted ways.

"The Rancho Cucamonga Chamber of Commerce and it's CEO, Norm MacKenzie have decided mutually to end Mr. MacKenzie's relationship with the Chamber. Mr. MacKenzie plans to pursue other opportunities and the Chamber wishes him the very best of luck in the future," she wrote.

It certainly doesn't sound like Norm left willingly. Word is there's been a lot of conflict between him and the chamber in recent weeks.

Interesting... I remember when the RC Chamber hired Norm. He worked for nearly nothing and slaved for the RC Chamber for many years. Norm was not perfect, but who is? He helped bring the RC Chamber back from the grave despite being pushed around by a few ego-maniac Chamber Presidents.

Just great! Now the largest c of c in the Inland Empire will probably go the way as Ontario has. Who on earth has the strengths to run it now?

Norm was/is a good guy. I certainly hope that he is remembered for the good he did here and not this soured note of goodbye. Looks to me like the Chamber needs a complete audit to determine where the Chamber stands financially and member wise prior to hiring a new CEO.

Norm was not at all what he appeared and did great harm to the chamber during his tenure. As the truth comes out the real question will be where were the prior chairman of the board and why did they turn a blind eye to his wrong doings. Hats off to the current executive committee for doing the right thing.

Norm was a good leader he took the City & the Chamber in to the next level. These people who run the Chamber are small town people we are now a big City the Board is worried about mom & pop type business when a majority of the business are small to meduim business. Norm wanted to bring the big companies he felt we need that leadership the board felt they wanted local control and did want the bigger business. Norm wanted to make this the largest chamber in IE. The board does not want that out of town company. Most of the Board Members are not involved in the community some do not live in RC. The fact is the Board has no idea what is going on. The memebership likes Norm. Many are upset and went in to business because they were fired. They do not understand. Right now the Chamber is in utter term oil. HELP
