Where can you find vegan pizza?
Sympathies to Chris, a Rancho resident, who recently asked this question on this blog. Vegan options are few and far between in this neck of the woods. Might I suggest you move to Santa Cruz, the beautiful city where I once lived and where I would regularly trip over vegan pizzas because there were that many.
Most vegan eateries, like Bright Star in Rancho and vegetarian eateries like Veggie Era in Upland and Veggie Tea House in San Dimas are of the Asian ilk.
While most pizza places are happy to make you a pizza sans meat and cheese, their crust may contain milk and eggs. The sauce at Boston's is vegan, for example, but the crust is not. However, Janet Forgrieve, spokeswoman for the Fourth Street pizza restaurant said in May, the chain will launch a whole wheat dough that has no animal products. The restaurant will also launch a gluten-free crust but that one has eggs.
If Bright Star, the lone vegan joint in this city, is your cup of tea, you might want to give it some business. I drove by there last night at 6 and 8 p.m. and it was completely empty. The establishment was David Allen's restaurant of the week earlier this month in his blog.
You can also explore the options in food blog Dine 909, which did an entry on vegetarian options in Inland Empire restaurants.

Thanks for the reply to my post. Means alot! Prior to this post, i was not aware of the veggie tea house in San Dimas. So thanks alot. The place i was talking about in the previous post (the pizza place in northern Moreno valley) i found some contact info for them. Perhaps you can make a trip out and try out a vegan pizza. Although the drive is quite far.

Thanks again for hearing the voice of us vegans. Your blog is great.
Thanks

No prob, Chris. Thanks for reading.
the L.A. Times ran a piece in their Food section around Thanksgiving time; their is a place in Redlands that is no Asian inspired. You can probably find it by doing a search on their site.
I think the thin crust dough at Pizza Hut is vegan friendly - but it's a sad "pizza"
trader joe's has some vegan cookies too....
Chris: You might give Z Pizza a try. They have a "Berkeley Soy Cheese Veggie" pizza. Some locations also carry a gluten-free crust, but alas, the sole West Valley location in Upland (Colonies Crossroads), does not. The one in Redlands (Citrus Plaza) does, if you're willing to make the drive. And Wendy, thanks for pimping our blog!
Purgatory Pizza near downtown Los Angeles has the BEST vegan pizza ever! They use Teese cheese from Chicago Soy Dairy. The fact that they are the only place in LA with this great cheese and that their crust and dough is to die for makes it the only pizzeria we will go to. It is well worth the drive from the Valley.
The Pizza Kiln in Moreno Valley has Vegan pizza with all the toppings. The use Follow Your Heart Cheese. It is located next to the mall in MoVal. Highly recommended.
