RC road show -- like SimCity but for real
The Planning Department, hoping to gather as much input as possible for the General Plan update, is taking their show on the road. An advisory committee has written "Spirit of RC," a draft document that will set guidelines for future planning decisions, and the city wants to know what you think about it. And by you, they mean, anyone who lives, works or plays in the city.
Community groups like Kiwanis and Chamber of Commerce have scheduled their road show. Organizations wanting a presentation from the Planning Department can schedule one by calling (909) 477-2750.
Don't dismiss all planners as map-touting white guys talking about the concentric ring theory. I got a sneak peak of this "road show" and although it was missing free food, it was a worthwhile presentation. The "Spirit of RC" is a pretty accurate snapshot of Rancho but if you disagree, you can be civic minded and throw your two cents in.

Wendy....the racial humor is unbecoming of a professional reporter....the shallow stereotype of human beings who work behind the scenes to ensure communities like Rancho Cucamonga exist and can be sustained over time is also an indictment on your gender bias and lack of respect for people who did nothing but come to work and do their jobs so they can feed their families.
I don't think anyone would have dismissed planners in any context without your remarks....an attempt to be cool.....was anything but.....
watching too...
It was not humor- it was a way to eliminate the mental picture WE ALL subconsciously get from our culture- a bunch of white guys making decisions for the rest of us...
Hey, Wendy is my femihero-
If conditions were different, I would offer to carry her children and care for them free of charge... but alas....

Just curious, would you be similarly comfortable with attempts to dismiss common mental pictures involving people hawking their labor in front of Home Depot?
"Don't dismiss all day laborers as..."
Yeah, I'm sure that'd go over real well.
How about this - don't care one way or the other about who is doing the grunt work for urban planning, as long as they don't screw it up. If they're all one race or another or a mixture of some sort - what of it?
We seriously need to get past focusing on that sort of stuff. Using "white guys" as something worthy of being dismissed doesn't help with that.

I want to know... what is Rex really? Mormon, Latino, Catholic, African American, Atheist, Lutheran, Non-white, Dem or Rep?
Hey, RC J, you might have commented on the wrong post but that's ok. Based on my interviews with him, I have learned Rex is Mormon, Latino and Republican.
Interesting that all the comments so far are on the race issue when the story here is that RC is planning another land grab for the Developers via the County.
