Bring out the spinster in you

I went to observe a spinning class at the recently opened Pedal Spin Studio, where owner Michelle Bell told me that participants can burn anywhere from 600 to 1,000 calories after a 50-minute class. I spent about 50 minutes interviewing spinning enthusiasts and because I did my reporting standing up, I think I burned about 32 calories. Woo-hoo.

The first class for newcomers is always free at the Victoria Gardens Lane studio. See this Friday's City News article for more info or visit their Web site.

32 calories? Feel that burn.

Not to be fastidious, the "calorie" that you wrote should really be Calorie. In nutrition and exercise, 1000 calories (a kilocalorie) is called a "Calorie". So, that capital C does a lot to distinguish these two confusing units.

This is the greatest workout you will get! All the instructors are amazing and make you want to ride your heart out everytime. You feel as though you are at a dance club with the lights and music; and before you know it your 50 minutes has passed and you feel amazing!
