On why they're running

MMorrell.JPGMike Morrell is running as a Republican candidate for the 63rd Assembly District on a no tax hike platform. The Rancho Cucamonga resident said Sacramento is simply spending way too much.

"I'm a fan of limiting the power of government. Raising taxes is not a way to solve the state's problems. Californians have been taxed enough. Taxing people doesn't work period. Living within your means does."

Warren.JPGAcquanetta Warren has also put her name in the 2010 race. Her interest in politics go back to her high school days when she visited the Assembly for a day on an invite by former Assemblyman Leon Ralph. The Fontana councilwoman said back then, California had a great reputation. Now the state is known for its budget mess.

"My parents are from Birmingham, Alabama and they considered this place the promised land. I don't get that sense of glory now when you get out of town. We used to be considered leaders. California used to be about the people and I don't see that now."
