Le Bellisimo chef heads to Upland

Word is that Chef Christophe, the talent behind French/Italian restaurant Le Bellisimo, will lead a new restaurant in downtown Upland.

Colleague David Allen heard the news from the Upland mayor at the State of the City last night.

Le Bellisimo was the upscale eatery at Masi Plaza that closed in January. Lots of luck to Christophe. The new restaurant will be on Second Avenue, the site of D'Uplanders.

Update: Chef Christophe wrote in an e-mail he's aiming to open the restaurant by the end of the year.

I wish Chef well and am sorry that "we" in Rancho couldn't keep him around. His restaurant, like Antonino's...Magic Lamp...Sycamore Inn, are basically owner operators and not of the "chain" mentality. These are the places that all of us need to visit especially during these tough times. Oh Chef, by the way, bring back the small rack of lamb and duck breast combo!

I am so happy to hear Chef Christophe and his wonderful wife, Patricia, are coming to Upland. My husband and I really miss Le Bellisimo's fabulous food and Patricia's warmth. Whatever Chef Christophe prepares is a delight. There are many people who will be as happy as we are to hear they are coming to Upland.

We missed the great Italian food when Le Bellisimo closed in RC. How wonderful it is to know that we will have the opportunity to dine again close by. To enjoy the wonderful dishes that are so well prepared. We are looking forward to bringing our guests back to enjoy the wonderful food and ambiance that Le Bellisimo offered.
