No love for the Bulletin, Mr. Karatsu?

Library Director Robert Karatsu announced the family fun night at tonight's City Council meeting and also spoke about the need for public libraries in a tough economy. Karatsu said if you've been reading newspapers recently, like the L.A. Times, Wall Street Journal or the Sun, you might have read about the role libraries play in a rough economy.

Ouch! The Daily Bulletin ran a front page story today about this very topic.

It slipped his mind, I'm sure. Karatsu is a big supporter of the local paper and this blog. Plug us next time, Robert.

The "Daily Bull" is where one looks for mis-information", not information.

Oh, Wendy, this entry sounded like a cry of "mom likes you best."

Both the Bulletin and San Bernardino Sun posted the exact same article (ci 12144374) "The Price is Right" by Wesley G. Hughes, which is an article about increase in library usage associated with a down economy. Now, I imagine this redundancy is a cost-saving or efficiency measure that benefits two newspapers owned by the same parent company, Los Angeles Newspaper Group; by the same token, should one story filed in two places get double credit?

Nah, only the Bulletin should get the credit. We're the better sister paper.

Hi Wendy.

On bended knees, I beg your forgiveness! You *know* the DB (and you and DA) are first in my cold heart. How could I have let the Sun come between us? :] (In two weeks, I may have the opportunity to make atones but you will have to be there...)

Seriously, I was up in Sacramento all day today for Legislative Day (going from legislator to legislator, asking (uh, begging) for *their* support of public libraries) and didn't get to check out my daily RC Now fix until, well, now. (And checking my email, one of my staff did email me to say that you put us on the cover).

And totally unrelated, if you wanted to see an interesting "tea party", the steps of the Capitol building in Sacramento would have been a good place to start. I'm not good with numbers but there were probably 3-4,000 people in assorted costumes holding assorted placards. (You had to be there...)

Apology accepted. Say, does that mean all my overdue fines will be waived? ... It turns out, you weren't the only one that temporarily forgot about the local paper, Robert. The mayor announced close to 10 p.m. last night that he has an L.A. Times photo on his Facebook page!

Wendy,

The better sister paper?

Time to throw down the gauntlet. I propose a Sun versus Daily Bulletin staff challenge to determine whether Berdoo or Ontario is home to the superior newspaper.

We could do this by comparing page hits or byline counts, but that wouldn't be as much fun. Let's settle this on the field of competition, i.e. baseball, football, paintball.

News team versus news team. For bragging rights. Are you down?

Really? Paintball, Andrew? Only a Sun reporter would think a paintball smackdown could prove which newspaper is superior. What's next? A game of Warcraft?

In this newspaper’s web log, the writing seems to be inching ever more expressive, casting a specter of personal flair. Sometimes I wonder if this eponymous RC Now is interchangeable with “Wendy Leung’s Blog”. It’s equivocal what the voice is or which one is when.

No on the Warcraft. Playing that game is like being an errand boy sent by elven grocery clerks.
