Alexander eyeing 2010

| | Comments (11) |
Former Mayor Bill Alexander's phone has been ringing a lot recently.

Scandal surrounding Councilman Rex Gutierrez has got people wondering if Alexander will come out of the woodwork.

The answer is an unequivocal yes.

But Alexander has said he'll run before and changed his mind. So we'll see if he follows through. Things in local politics are changing so quickly these days, 2010 sounds like a world away.

In 2010, Mayor Don Kurth's seat could be open if he heads to Sacramento. Councilwoman Diane Williams and Gutierrez are both up for re-election. Williams has indicated she'll run again and Gutierrez ... who knows?

Any thoughts of an Alexander comeback?

The city of Rancho Cucamonga certainly does not need another round of Bill Alexander!

We said NO more Bill when he was ousted in his last election. The City has to move on with the old and in with the new! Tired of the same faces.

All Rancho needs is Bill Alexander back; didn’t he get it that we have already said “No thanks” to the firemen’s puppet? Not only do we not need Alexander back, but we need to get rid of the rest of the rest of these fire union proxies, the corrupt, and the inept. For me, I plan on voting against the incumbents and ANYONE supported or endorsed by the firemen’s union. Bill Alexander, save your money, enjoy retirement, and thanks, but NO THANKS. Really, we’ve had enough.

Job one is to rid the city of Rex(I'am not a crook)Gutierrez, he should be in any city position. Mr. Alexander had a mess about the firemen's union and devlopers so I dont know.
If the city manager could be on the council or Mayor I think I would vote for Mr. Lam. I hope good people step up next year and we can get a good, unbiased council.

Say it ain't so Bill,
Next year is a year of opportunity. Let's move forward, not rehash the past. Time for Rancho to move on without this stale bunch. We appreciate their efforts for the past, but come on, let's get some new enthusiam and leadership. Need leaders up to speed with 2010. Not whinning about everything outside the city. If your retired, stay retired, find your part time jobs as a greeter somewhere else. Better yet, spend your time cooking winnies at the Fire Department. I'm sure the crew would appreciate it. Watching the meetings, these guys begin to nod off around 8:15. Can someone give Ms. Williams a nudge every now and then? If nothing else, after the elections next year, consider starting the meetings like 4 or 5 pm. Maybe an exercise break, to keep em awake and on topic.

Not anything against seniors but isn't the average age of our council around over 60 yrs old at least? Our council needs to be a reflection of our community and they are out of touch with the needs of young families and workforce population. All of them are retired and they are out of touch with the needs of people who live in the young city of Rancho Cucamonga where families are or will raise their kids.

Thank you Out of Touch, NewGeneration, and No Thanks.

Your comments are right on! I was not a supporter of Mr Obama, but after the first 120 have to give him credit for stepping out and doing things different. Very Refreshing.

For R.C. Concil if nothing else get some representation from each generation, young to senior citizen. And maybe abit of diversity. Look at the mix, let's get some different backgrounds and age groups to represent our city makeup!

How many times do you have to dethrone someone before they GET IT? Mr. Alexander talks out of both sides of his mouth. It was his REIGN that over built this city, it was his REIGN that GAVE the FireDept huge raises, during his REIGN the Developers became so powerful. It was his REIGN when ALL the HISTORIC Buildings were destroyed and Route 66 destroyed-Go BACK TO ARIZONA and run for office there, we DON'T WANT YOU!
Ms. Williams, get yourself some RICOLA before the next meeting we are sick of your coughing at City Council meetings.
This City needs new, competent Leaders with common sense that have the CITIZENS interests at heart and no more padding their own pockets.
No more Kings and Queens on the Council, to be on City Council we need people who will get off their pedestal and roll up their sleeves and work for the people who elected them and not the developers!

Please just go away to your retirement home in AZ Mr. Alexander. Enjoy your life... we no longer need your services here. You served your time (18 years is plenty, dontcha think?!)and now it's time for some new blood with some fresh ideas. If you enter this race it will get ugly just like it did in 2006 when you and the fire union were beaten up so badly. Is that what you want to put us through again? To the fire union's credit, they got the hint, some new union leadership and have started to calm down and repair their relationship with the community. You apparently did not learn much from the '06 election. Maybe a second crushing defeat will give you a clue. And one more thing... once Rex goes, as he most certainly will, there will be ZERO council members living east of Archibald (that would include Alexander if the unthinkable happens and he wins)... what's up with that?! Can we possibly spread the representation out just a little bit in this city?

No to the Old said:

NO to Alexander. He has served his city and now needs to be in pasture. Come on.... let the young work their way into local politics & government and learn. We need a young voice. NO to the Old Alexander.

Dear Friends,

Having been involved in the community and in politics since I was 18 years old I have long worked for positive change. Today, I see the need for new leadership with fresh ideas and that is why I have decided to run for Rancho Cucamonga's City Council in 2010.

To succeed, I have begun to line up early supporters and those who may support our campaign once it is formally announced. I encourage you to contact us about your community's concerns and ideas to help improve the City of Rancho Cucamonga.

Please take the time to sign up to volunteer, request a yard sign, host an event, and/or make a contribution to the campaign.

Thank you,

Saúl Santos
