City Council says no gate
The City Council said no to installing gates and closing a portion of Red Hill Country Club Drive as a solution to solve cut-through traffic. The unanimous vote was followed by applause.
"I believe that we need to have some kind of consensus, some kind of unity to move forward," said Councilman Rex Gutierrez. "And it's obvious we don't have this consensus. It doesn't seem the gate is warranted."
According to an April survey conducted by the city, 60 percent of residents who completed the survey opposed the street closure.

I have never been more proud of our city leaders than I was tonight at the Special Council Meeting to discuss cut-through traffic on Red Hill. Their thoughtful and reasonable approach to solving a local neighborhood issue showed their professionalism and demonstrated a real concern for residents on both sides of the issue. While the final resolution will not be a decisive win for either side of the issue, whatever the final outcome, I am confident out city leaders will act with the best interest of the residents of Red Hill as well as the broader Rancho Cucamonga community.

Cudos to the RC Council for their unanimous decision regarding the issue of traffic on Red Hill. One of the more effective measures our city council might consider is to strategically (and randomly) post an officer to monitor traffic, as well as CITE OFFENDERS, in this and other troubled areas ..... (Upland did this at the UHCC area along Baseline/16th quite effectively). The placing of law enforcement at the intersections leading up Red Hill may be a good beginning to resolving the issue!
