Doing the math on Colonies contributions
A City Council regular recently asked the elected officials: Who on earth is Jeff Burum and how much has he given you in campaign contributions?
Burum, of course, is the well-known develolper based in this city, who's behind the Colonies project in Upland. In 2006, the Colonies Partners won a much scrutinized $102 million settlement with San Bernardino County over flood-control improvements on the property. Burum and other Colonies investors, including Tony Mize, a Community Foundation Board member, are regular contributors to Rancho officials, county supervisors and others.
The Safety Employees Benefit Association and the SEBA political action committee are also noteworthy contributors to local campaigns. The SEBA political action committee is just one of many committees that Burum contributes to, which in turn, contribute to various political campaigns.

Since 2003, Mayor (and Councilman) Don Kurth has received at least $49,150 from the Colonies and their investors and $61,547 from SEBA in monetary and in-kind contributions.
Since 2008, Councilman Sam Spagnolo has received at least $10,200 in monetary and in-kind contributions from the Colonies and their investors and $7,500 from SEBA.
Since 2004, Councilman Dennis Michael has received at least $20,700 in monetary and in-kind donations from the Colonies and their investors and $23,500 from SEBA.
Since 2002, Councilman Rex Gutierrez has received at least $41,510 in monetary and in-kind contributions from the Colonies and their investors and $37,500 from SEBA.
Since 2000, Councilwoman Diane Williams has received at least $16,600 from the Colonies and their investors and $26,750 from SEBA.

Well citizens of R/C public records don't lie. We have the best city council money can buy. R/C is the city government to bribe so you can do any thing you want to. These people all need to be replaced in the next elections.
Can you tell us the amount Rex has accepted from David Lewis over the past 5 years? What a waste of $$ for the Lewis family and others.
Well, well the entire city council is on the take from developer Burum, isnt that a surprise and the shady Mize the go between. Rancho citizen's are you seeing the picture yet? This council need's to be replaced in it's entirety. They should never be allowed to have any decision making call on the 1,200 acre's north of Los Osos H.S. The county is corrupt to the core and so is Rancho's city council, leading the way is the slimeball Rex Gutierrez, Gutierrez the only hand you should be extending is the one that's full of the money you stole from taxpayer's in your phoney job in the county. you are a disgusting person.
I can't wait for the next Rancho council mtg. Which clown will be first to say "at times these contributions may seem like a payoff, but let me reassure the citizen's of this city that this is not the case........blah,blah,blah". These bribe's "contributions" maybe the reason there's no land left to build on in the city,ya think!!
I hope the crooked council recuse's itself from any input on the 1200 acres left in Rancho. A closer look at Mize should be in order also.
Since when did it become illegal for a successful individual to be part of the political process?
At what dollar amount does a contribution turn into a "bribe"?
People that build homes for a living can't be part of the process? How about companies that build schools, hospitals or roads? How about law enforcement and firefighting PACs?
Also, Rancho seems to be doing pretty well. Not in the dire straits some other cities are in. That credit goes to the Mayor and the council.
In answering Salesguy: It should be $1.00. You must be either Burum,s partner or the City Council's aaccountant, either way you surely are'nt serious. How about you define "participate"
Don Kurth.......$15801 A Year
Rex Gutierrez...$9876 A Year
Dennis Michael..$7367 A Year
Sam Spagnolo....$5580 A Year
Diane Williams..$4335 A Year
Congratulations Don, you are the biggest whore in Rancho Cucamonga!
Look what we would missed if it had not been for Jeff Burum and his money and ideas--No negative publicity for the inland empire--Alot of people would not be facing jail, including Jeff-A lot of misery would have been avoided by all--JEFF--you should be VERY proud of what you have created and caused--I am the person you told that i wa going to wake up with the fishes--You remember -I filed a complaint with Upland Police Dept..-How did you get my cell number ??--from Steve Adams and Pomierski MAYBE???????
