The featured story in the newly designed City News today featured Mainstreet Marketplace at Victoria Gardens, the pedestrian fair on South Mainstreet that started this month.

I took an after dinner stroll there on Wednesday, my second time visiting, and was surprised to see businesses that I didn't see the first time. If you enjoy walking through all the exhibit halls at the county fair, you might like the mall's latest addition.

I briefly contemplated buying five bars of handmade soap and a flower pot in the shape of a turtle but I talked myself out of it. But I watched many others buying all sorts of goods they don't need, perhaps an early sign that the mall is inching its way out of the recession.

Where did you have dinner? How would you rate it? Hey, don't let David Allen be the only one who reviews local restaurants. We need a female's perspective!

I seen this kid doing these paintings on Wednesday. He is amazing!!!! He is only 14 years old and is painting some beautiful paintings. I am going back next week just to see him again.

Well, since you asked, Judi. Dinner was at Harry's Pacific Grill, a sort of upscale or updated version of Honolulu Harry's in Chino. I had seared tuna with Japanese eggplant, broccoli and quinoa salad. The sides were ok but the fish was excellent. I also discovered a fantastic appetizer -- sliced sweet potato coated with bread crumbs and coconut served with a chipotle ranch dip. It was like eating dessert before the main meal. Good wine list, too. It's too bad they don't open for lunch.

I second Judi’s comment. Remember your recent dialogue about barbecue restaurants? Maybe a trip to Joey’s (which is now open) or Chef Tim’s, if you haven't already been to either one.

I went to Chef Tim’s recently and had a half-rack: it got deep smoky flavor.

Thanks for the review. Nicely done. Maybe you could review a different RC restaurant each week or so. Goodness knows we have enough to accommodate several years’ worth of reviews.

Harry’s has a decent Sunday brunch with lots of food and endless mimosas and bloody marys for around $20.00. I think it goes from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. (That detail is a bit fuzzy. I wonder if the mimosas are to blame…)
