It's chili time at Albertsons
Hatch chilies are in season and you don't have to go to New Mexico to get them. Albertsons at Foothill and Vineyard are selling a 30-pound sack for $28.99. You can have them roasted free of charge on Aug. 15 and 16 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
These chilies are known to be rich with vitamin C. One medium sized chili can have as much vitamin C as six oranges. But be careful. One New Mexico native in the newsroom got an ulcer from eating too many.

New Mexico Chili, The Best Chili!
Chilis do not cause ulcers. A bacterium known as helicobacter pylori does.
Hatch green chile is the very best out there and believe me, it sells out very fast. Be there early and plan on staying a while. Roasting is essential. It is all very worth the time spent. You will not be disapointed
I would like to know when you are going to sell your New Mexico chili at Albertson's. I live in Azusa, California 91702
Thank you,
Josie Martinez
Josie, chili season is usually late August to early October. If Albertson's sells them again, I'll post it here.
Please e-mail me and let me know what Albertsons will be selling the Hatch Chile. I live in Diamond Bar, Ca.
Hi, DOes anyone know when Chiligeddon will be happening at Albertson's for 2011?
Just call the store and ask the manager about the date. Is that too difficult?
I've heard some of the Ralphs Fresh Fare stores will be doing roasting this year as well.
This Sat aug 6 was the most recent roasting. There are still bags for sale in the produce dept though. Also the produce mgr told us they go around to other local so cal albertson's so call their headquarters for the schedule.
Does anyone know which Albertsons in Los Angeles area actually sells the frozen green chile? I missed the roasting and am DYING to find some! I have heard that some of the stores sell the frozen stuff but I haven't been able to figure out which one yet! If this doesn't work I'm going to drive to all of them and figure it out.
Thanks!
