On the agenda: City Council

| | Comments (5) |
If I were a betting woman, I'd put money on tonight's meeting being a long one. I have a theory that a skimpy council agenda lends to long meetings. This week's agenda is only 176 pages, 87 pages less than last meeting's agenda and 120 pages less than the agenda from two meetings ago. The theory is completely illogical but it's based on an unscientific survey based on attending City Council meetings in the last four years.

The meeting might be a long one because much of the public comment period could be dominated by the soon-to-be out-of-work employees at Safetran. The company announced its closure last week.

Staff members are expected to give a report on the Skyline Estates neighborhood. Residents at the last meeting complained about people parking their cars and doing other unsavory acts outside their homes before heading up to Cucamonga Canyon. They leave behind bottles and they urinate in yards, neighbors said.

Happy 1st Anniversary!

      (Off-topic—but today is special.)
643
Number of headline entries in this blog in one year, according to tallies listed in the Monthly Archives.  On this day, this Daily Bulletin forum opened shop.

RC Now modestly started on the 19th of August 2008 with a début entry by Canan Taşcı.  On the 27th, Wendy began blogging and extended an official welcome.

A good city-news blog needs a good “steward.”  Wendy's stewardship has pioneered a fine start with jaunty, prolific postings.  (This blog is in addition to her other assignments and duties.)  644, 645…

It takes more than one set of fingertips on the keyboard, though.  Many times, Canan dutifully stepped in, most recently in March when Wendy went to Mexico; Diana Sholley contributed plenty in October; Melissa Pinion-Whitt also chimed in; and not the least, a cadre of staff photographers augmented thousands of words with their pictures.

To the team of RC Now on reaching this milestone, cheers!

Wow! I didn't even know RC Now was 1 year old. They grow up so fast don't they? Thanks for the lovely note, Gavin.

This neighborhood got the mess because the USFS keeps the gate closed so much. At least that keeps (at least some of) the junk heaps from being dumped up-canyon.

Those trails and canyons belong to all citizens of Cucamonga. The trails do not belong to only the rich people. I knew this would happen. Instead of building us a trail head, a parking lot, and a bathroom they built multiple mulitmillion dollar mansions. This canyon is part of my growing up and I only live a few blocks away. I am one of the people who parks near these homes but no one is pissing and no one is leaving trash...pack it in pack it out. It's the mexicans who leave their trash, break into cars, and piss on lawns. The local people do not treat their canyons or neighborhoods this way and should not be punished because of the mexicants. I have an idea. Why don't they just make these homes a gated community. That way all the middle class neighbors from down the street will no longer be allowed to use thier own canyon. And this would protect these richies from all the crime in the area...ha what crime! Just look at Haven Estates. It is a gated community and is totally secure from the crime ridden city of Rancho Cucamonga. Let me be clear, no one will tell me I can't enjoy my own canyon. Especially when I live right next to Cucamonga canyon and Cucamonga Creek (channel). And what about the hillside residendial zoning for the rest of Skyline. We see that the street was realigned for future mansions to be built above the falls. But who cares about the endangered southern california xeriscape, it's only more endangered than the rainforest. Get your priorities straight and stop stealing our trails for the rich.
