On the agenda: Planning Commission
If you have an opinion on Rep. Gary Miller's plan to build 110 homes on Carrari Ranch, the scoping meeting Wednesday is for you. The public hearing is aimed to collect input for the draft environmental impact review. If you can't make the meeting, you can submit a statement this week to be included in the EIR.
Those likely to be in attendance are residents who call themselves the Save Our Mountains Alliance. The group has been planning to block this project since Miller first proposed it in 2005.
Mayor Don Kurth pointed out that opposition to development in the north part of the city is not new. Residents who oppose Miller's project now live north of residents who opposed their homes.
"There's no unanimity to this issue," Kurth said. "There are people who live below (Miller's opponents) who say, 'What are you talking about? How come you can say people can't build up there and yet you built above us?' "
The Planning Commission meeting starts 7 p.m.

Don't forget the commission also is selecting their bike representative for the Trails Advisory Committee that you publicized a few months ago. :)
Rep Miller seeks to develop the foothill property he owns with over 100 homes on land that the City has approved for less than 20 homes? Of course. What's the problem?
I am not a member of "Save Our Mountains Alliance". But, I do reside in Maintenance District "Caryn". The fees for this district, as well as the other two districts in Rancho Cucamonga, will be increased if the the voters vote in favor of the increase. What I would very much like to know is: Will the increase in money be used to subsidize Rep. G. Drier"s housing development. For example better entry roads, lighting and any other construction to make the development more apparent??
Also, since Mayor Kurth is a "very close friend" of Rep. Drier, is Mayor Kurth going to excuse himself from voting wit any city Commission and or Council that votes on this matter?? This would apply to any other Rancho Cucamonga City staffer.
I am just fed up with all district fees that show up every year on my tax bill. I know some fees are necessary. But, before long the fees will be more than the actual taxes on my property!!!
