Wine and books? Why not?
You might have read about the odd pairing in David Allen's column. The Ontario Library cafe is applying for a liquor license.
In this city, wine and books come together when Total Wine & More, the new beverage retailer on Foothill and Day Creek, will donate $5,000 to the Library Foundation on Thursday's grand opening celebration. The wine, beer and spirits warehouse will also donate $5,000 to the Community Foundation, which raises money for cultural and recreational programming.
Total Wine, which opened last week, is hosting an official grand opening 6 p.m. Thursday with several council members. There will be tours of the 24,000-square-foot facility and tastings.

Wine and books? Uh, only a match made in heaven!
Perhaps I will see you at Total Wine and More this afternoon(?) If so, at one of the tastings we can toast to RC Now's first anniversary!
Hey at the Filippi Winery they are selling wines by the glass now and they remodeled the banquet room and have a new rear patio. It's nice, breezy, quiet, bring some food. Ck it out !
I still can't find anyone in the newsroom to go with me, John, so I'll have to go solo. Journalists are only into beer and whiskey.
Monaco's for pizza and wine is the best in town!
You're engaged George? Slap!
My brother and I stopped in for the first time about a week ago. It's amazing in there! I don't know a lot about wine (Beringer is about the limit of my knowledge) so I gravitated to the pretty labels--a sure sign of a novice.
The best part of the visit was at the checkout counter. The young clerk asked for my I.D. After my brother stopped laughing, I asked her if the gray hair and wrinkles may be a tip-off that it REALLY wasn't necessary. She just smiled and said it was their policy to card everyone.
I've decided to drop in daily to buy a bottle of wine. Then I'll feel good on many different levels.
Thank you Total Wine for your donations to our city! We will be shopping your new store soon. Thank you!
There is a wine shop near the Metrolink Station in Upalnd - Pacific Wine Merchants and they have a huge selection of wines, beers, cigars and more. The Brandt Family Winery Syrah of Upland is sold in this shop. Great pour by local winemaker Brian Brandt.brandt supports Upland Library and community events.
Judi, I think you might be too young to comment on my blog. Are you 18 yet?
Ohhh, how I love you, Wendy! :)
