On the agenda: Red Hill

Red Hill traffic -- it never ends.

Come to the neighborhood meeting 6 p.m. Wednesday at Valle Vista School for a Power Point presentation on rumble strips, traffic islands and chokers, radar speed signs, speed humps and raised medians.

Traffic Engineer Jon Gillespie will explain it all but I'll give it a shot. Rumble strips are the little bumps on the road that make your car go "da, da, da, da, da." Islands and chokers are obstacles that make a straight street seem curvy.

Those alternatives probably won't get as much traction as raised medians, which prevent left-hand turns. For example, if you put a median on Foothill, drivers won't be able to turn left onto Red Hill Country Club Drive. Some residents back this as plan B to the Red Hill Country Club Drive closure.

This is funny Red Hill residents want there area closed to outside traffic because of speeding great. I live on Eastgate Ave. in Upland and have followed several of your residents speeding thru Eastgate. You want your streets safe but the heck with others. WAKE UP RED HILL. We have been fighting for years SLOW DOWN.

I have lived on Red Hill Country Club Dr.for 18 years and I bought that house knowing the traffic conditions. These conditions are no different then most communities. The city has spent countless dollars and time on this project which included the addition of stop signs.I believe it has made a difference, but we have a group in the neighborhood who want Red Hill closed at Foothill and will continue their battle till it's won. It is time to move on and quit wasting money the city could be using for more useful projects.

Well said Ken. I live where 19th street ends east of Haven and for some ungodly reason, everybody who can't read a "NO Outlet" sign makes a frickin' speedway u-turn on my cul-de-sac because they are either stupid or ????? But am I going to petition the city to but in spike strips? Geez, deal with it people.
