On the agenda: Planning Commission

| | Comments (4) |
The planning department is keeping a close eye on El Loco Cantina and Omaha Jacks, two bars/restaurants in the Masi Plaza. A review of the businesses' entertainment and conditional use permits was originally scheduled for tonight's meeting but it has been postponed until Feb. 10. Planning Director James Troyer said the city is "very concerned" that the businesses may be in violation of their permits.

Next week, the city is expected to interview five or six candidates for the Planning Commission. The City Council will likely make a decision to fill Pam Stewart's seat next Wednesday.

What is up with Rancho and their on-going attempts to make it difficult on smaller bars/resturants to survive.

Last year they tackled the Peppers in Alta Loma with similar tactic of violation of conditional use permit. Year before Margaritiville. Now these two joints. Both Peppers and Margaritiville were advised they were in smaller neighborhood stip malls and should go to larger facilities more zoned for night time activities.

Now, 2010, and they go after these two business's in in a large commercial center. Few if any residential in the vicinity, and the city is after them. Why not work with business? Maybe the city needs to be more flexible as we start a new decade.

It would seem to me that the City of Rancho Cucamonga would have bigger things to sort out, instead of harrasing these businesses. I am not aware of the ins and outs of the situation, but it should have been included in the article. Just the same, sounds like politics as usual is in full swing at the City.

Yolanda, come back next month to read more about the ins and outs of the two businesses. The planning department is still preparing a report on the matter. If you do a search for "El Loco" in RC Now, you can read about the issues that came up last year for the Mexican eatery.
