Is Omaha Jack's a nightclub?
Restaurant or nightclub? That is the perennial question the Planning Commission and City Council often face when it comes to certain businesses in the city. Margarita Beach and El Loco Cantina come to mind.
Tonight's discussion at the Planning Commission meeting focuses on Omaha Jack's. This restaurant/bar on Foothill Boulevard is allowed to have a band and karaoke but not a DJ and a large dance floor. Bottom line is, Omaha Jack's is not permitted to be a nightclub.
But according to the sheriff's department, Omaha Jack's is violating its conditional use and entertainment permits and operating like a nightclub. It was easy for a sheriff's deputy to prove it; he turned to YouTube.

Looks like the city is licking its chops for another fun place to shut down. They already killed Margarita Beach, Knockers, and most of Peppers. Can't wait to see what's next on their jaded agenda.
Right on Dave you nailed it. Welcome to Disneyland...the hap hap happiest place on earth. Rancho will not be happy until all restaurant "bars" are closed and all the young people leave. If the city keeps closing instead of attracting nightlife, they will see their upwardly mobile young people move into cities that have real bars, real dance clubs, and real entertainment. The council is turning this young city into a sterile and corporate family only place. The council needs to change their old ways and allow more nightlife into Rancho like Pasadena and Fullerton.
i've recently started going to omaha jacks in rancho and its by far one of the best bar's ive been too, no drama just fun people looking to have a good night, i think that rancho is ignorant for trying to shut it down, no matter where you go you will find trouble, you cant control what people do and the bar cant itself control it all but i have never seen any problems the last 4 weeks ive been going, like ive said i really enjoy coming here, its a nice area and rancho does a great job keeping it clean and a friendly city to come to and enjoy.
In my opinion i dont see the problem with it being open and with the way the economy has been its kinda dumb to take aways a place that offers more jobs and brings peoples spirits up and allow them to spend some money.
Please dont look down on omaha jacks they are a busines just trying to bring people together for some good clean fun, ive done some research and i havent found anything that makes me look down on this bar apart from many other bars in other citys. all i ask is be open minded and look on both sides of the story.
I agree with all three of you above.
Rancho is seriously dropping the ball on this deal. I have been going to OJ's since it was the RCBC and Compass Creek. The property actually housed a strip club before that. lol...I bet Rancho would have a serious problem with that now. Nevertheless, OJ's is a great place and I will seriously be ticked if they do what they did to Peppers.
I am pretty damn sure that the city would never go after Friday's or The Yard House. As we all know that the city is in bed with Lewis and the Victoria Gardens in general.
City, get a grip and see what Upland is doing. They have revived the downtown Upland area and wow...have 3 or 4 bars/restaurants that actually stay open past 1AM.
If you shut down this Rancho landmark or Casaletti's for that matter, I will gladly take my money, business and my family elsewhere.
See you at the City Council meeting on Friday!
