LMD item postponed

The City Council meeting got a full house tonight thanks to residents from landscape maintenance district 6 who believe the city has mismanaged the district's funds. The landscape maintenance district was on the agenda tonight but the item was postponed for 30 days so staff can have more time to work with neighbors on a solution. Some neighbors in the district formed a coalition on Saturday with the hopes of working with city staff members to keep the landscape maintenance at a high level without bringing in work release laborers.

The city council was going to allow criminals into the neighborhoods? Wow. What a terrible idea. They will take one look at those huge houses and wonder just how many high end items are inside waiting to be stolen. Then they will come back at a later date and take said items. After the smoking ban and the bar closures, I am really worried about how our council is running the city in these perilous economic times with the commercial real estate market due to collapse in the very near future.

And by the way I have a great idea on how you can "keep the landscape maintenance at a high level." DO IT YOURSELF. Or make your lazy kids remember what it is like to take care of their own city. If you want a high level of maintenance you can't just wait for the gardeners to come. This is Rancho not Rialto. We own we do not rent. So when your multimillion dollar neighborhood goes broke, you pick up a rake and broom and clean it up yourself.

Not sure about where you live Matt, but the neighborhood in question has many greenscape areas that are NOT near the houses.

On another note, how can the city not be able to mow the lawn, trim bushes and keep water down for nearly $600K? I tell you what, give me the contract, I will quit my job, and that is all I will do . . . trust me, it will look fantastic and it will not cost me $100K. I would love to make $500K a year and work 100 days. Here's a thought, stop planting ugly euks that bust up the sidewalks when they get too big . . . then we plant another one? Definition of insanity . . . doing the same thing day after day and expecting different results! STOP THE MADNESS, GOVERNMENT NEEDS REGULATION!

Here is another thought . . . why not consolidate some the lmd's and then you won't need to worry about funding. You know that some of the lmd's actually make more than is necessary and it just goes to the general fund when they have deficit.

This is nothing more then a case of mismanaged funds. I live in this LMD and it was amazing to see trees over trimmed, workers using hand cutters instead of electric cutters, trees cut down and replaced by the same type of tree......get the picture, mismanagement!!! When will the city council start to demand a better performance from city staff? When will they ask the tuff questions...in this case a detail accounting for the last decade? Instead what I heard from the Mayor regarding this issue was praise for the staff and "this is what those people want", the people that live in LMD 6. We need to wake up and replace the entire city council!!!!!!
