Permits revoked, now what?

El Loco Cantina's entertainment and conditional use permits were revoked by a 5-0 vote last night but it does not mean the party is over quite yet.

With the Planning Commission vote, the restaurant/bar will no longer be allowed to serve alcohol and provide entertainment. However, the owner of the business has 10 days to appeal. Once the appeal is filed, a public hearing will be scheduled with the City Council and El Loco will have another opportunity to state its case. If the City Council upholds the Planning Commission decision, the taps will close and the DJ will get the boot.

I won't be going here anymore. Thanks city council for destroying what little night life
Rancho Cucamonga has. All the young people in the city will move away or go to another city for entertainment. This is not Disneyland...or is it. El Loco should sue the city for singlehandedly destroying their business.

We are in the middle of the Greatest Recession. The city has a half-built bike path were the Metro Gold Line should have been, half-built abandoned neighborhoods, empty office/retail/restaurant buildings, and a failing airport and this is what the council is spending its time on? Priorities people. Embarrassing.

huhhh Matt?? said:

It's called Ontario airport not Rancho Cucamonga airport. The bike path is being built in phases, half built neignborhoods??? Empty office spaces isn't the city's job to fill them in when the developers overbuilt & over speculated. No this is not Disneyland but Rancho Cucamonga is the Happiest City on Earth :)

Rancho has plenty of nightlife left within its boundaries, Im glad this place is gone.

Just because we are in a recession does not give the right for business owners to go rogue and operate outside of their approvals and put the public safety in jeopardy! And trust me, young people will not leave Rancho because this place cant serve alcohol.

WOW! THE CITY IS IN FOR A LEAGAL FIGHT. SAN BERNARDINO IS ABOUT TO PAY FOR A POOR DECISION THE CITY ATTORNEY MADE INVOLVING THE FLESH NIGHT CLUB. HOW POLITICAL THE PLANNING COMMISION HAS BECOME. IF ITS NOT A MAJOR CHAIN SLATED FOR VICTORIA GARDENS, LOCAL BUISNESES HAVE NO CHANCE TO COMPETE AGAINST THIS CORRUPTIVE PLANNING THE CITY HAS EVOLVED INTO.

Stephen said:

You're right. It's political, as in a majority of the residents of Rancho Cucamonga have expressed an interest in getting rid of the things they don't want.

The police have listed numerous calls to the location directly related to how the "club" was operating.

Remember, this is the city that gets offended by Atheists. Do you really think nightclubs stand a chance?

WHAT WENDY FAILS TO REPORT IS THE AMOUNT OF EXCESS MONEY THE CITY SPENDS ON THE R.C. SHERIFFS UNWARRANTED AGENDA. THE AMOUNT OF POLICE PATROLS THAT INVOLVE SCANNING AND CANVASING THE COMPLEX FOR POTENTIAL PROBLEMS. EVERY WEEKEND PATROLS WERE RECORDED IN THE COMPLEX AND NO PROBLEMS OR CALLS WERE MADE. IF THE CITY STAFF REALLY COMPARES THE AMOUNT OF CALLS THAT LOCO CANTINA HAD AS TO OTHER MAJOR ESTABLISHMENTS, THE COMMISION WOULD HAVE NO BASIS FOR REVOCATION. CASE IN POINT, YARD HOUSE RESTAURANT. BUT IT FALLS IN THE GLORY OF THE CITY'S "VICORIA GARDENS". IF THE CITY OF R.C. CANT MANAGE ITS OWN CULTURAL CENTER FROM UNINVITED GUN SHOTS, THEN HOW CAN IT REVOKE A RESTAURANT FOR MINOR PROBLEMS AND A COUPLE OF POLICE CALLS.
WHAT WENDY NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE IS THAT THE PLANNING COMMISION NEVER HAD ANY OVERSIGHT NOR MEANS OF ADDRESSING PROBLEMS THAT INVOLE RESTAURANTS AND NIGHTCLUBS. THE CITY HAD TO REFER TO THE CITY OF ONTARIO FOR A PROTOCAL OF NIGHTLIFE CRITERIA FOR VIOLATIONS. LOCO CANTINA IS JUST A SCAPE GOAT. WOW DO WE REALLY WANT TO REFER TO ONTARIO, THE CITY THAT GAVE PERMITS TO DAVE AND BUSTERS. WOW YOU CANT EVEN GO TO ONTARIO MILLS MALL AND ENJOY A BITE TO EAT AT DAVE AND BUSTERS, WITHOUT YOU HOLDING YOUR CHILDREN IN FEAR OF THEM GETTING STABBED OR SHOT.
WENDY PLEASE TRY TO DO SOME REAL INVESTIGATION AND REPORT A MORE INSIGHTFULL AND BALANCED STORY. BUT MAYBE YOU TOO ARE LIKE THE OTHER ONE SIGHTED RESIDENTS R.C. HAS....

"Your either with us or against us."

-President George W. Bush
(Worst president in American history)

What a stupid comment and what a dumbed down individual. As if you should just go with the flow when dumb ideas and issues are being pursued. This is the mentality that got us into such a mess. Love it or leave it...kiss my @$$. I've lived here for over 25 years and I am a loyal Cucamongan. You on the other hand are the problem. Long live the idiocracy. Now go with the flow.

Stubby Knight said:

This might be naive or stupid, but if the conditional use permit is the problem, why don't they (Loco Cantina) just apply for a full nightclub permit?

R.C.INSIDER said:

HOW MANY NIGHTCLUBS EXIST BESIDES THE ROCK THE KEYS "TWINS NIGHTCLUB". I CANT THINK OF ONE OTHER DUE TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION'S CONTROLLING ZONES. THE ONLY OTHER WAY IS TO APPLY FOR NIGHTLY ENTERTAINMENT AND LATE HOURS PERMITS.
IF 85% OF THE CANTINA'S PATRONS ARE RANCHO CUCAMONGA RESIDENTS AND MANY ARE COLLEGE STUDENTS THEN WHAT DOES THAT SAY FOR THE YOUTH THAT LIVE IN RANCHO CUCAMONGA. THE CORRUPTION HAS TO STOP. THE COMMISSION ONLY SLAPS MAJOR CORPERATE BUISNESES ON THEIR HAND'S. BUT THEY REVOKE THE PERMITS OF LOCAL BUISNESESS MEN AND WOMEN THAT OPERATE AND LIVE IN CITY LIMITS.
IF ZERO TOLERANCE IS WHAT THIS CITY WANTS THEN WHY DONT THEY JOIN DIAMOND BAR AND CLOSE ALL BAR'S AND GRILLS AT 11PM. LETS BE FAIR TO ALL WHO GENERATE LOCAL SALES TAX TO THE CITY!!!

Young Mattboy,

This president and congress are perhaps the worst in our country's modern history. It is assumed that you view much on television... watch this video and apply common sense.

What does the council want? This location used to be the Cowgirl club, a beer and boobs bar.

RC is a nice, safe family town. Most of us residents want to keep it that way. Majority rules and our officials represent the majority. Get over it. We don't need more young drunk people driving up and down Foothill and Day Creek along my car with my kids inside. VG already attracts enough riff-raff and there are too many places there to "get drunk" as it is.

Matt- don't take it so personal. We all fought the establishment and felt your passion when we were young. Then you grow up and realize you are a part of it, and were probably pretty naive. RC is a family town, not Hollywood. You can go there for nightlife just like I used to back in the day. If you are not a youngster, my error, but you write and speak with the opinions of a pretty novice political watcher.
