Two new dining choices at Vicky G
Paisano and Candelas, two sit-down restaurants, have filled two formerly vacant sites at Victoria Gardens.
Candelas, which picked up its liquor license a couple days ago, offers contemporary Mexican fare at a location that Wapango once occupied. Paisano is near the AMC Theater and dishes up Italian cuisine.

Paisano's is family owned and operated and the food is outstanding! Chef Anthony and I think Chef "Scott",excuse me if I'm wrong, are artists in the kitchen and will accomodate almost any special request if they have the ingredients. Please support these types of owner/operator restaurants in town, e.g. Antoninos,Magic Lamp, Sycamore Inn, Cask n Cleaver, Haandi, and all the other anti-corporate places.
I ate at Paisano this past weekend. The food was good and the environment was very nice. I really liked all the work and detail they put into the design of the restaurant. I will definitely go again.
Ate at Candelas Friday night and it was absolutely amazing! For starters, the decor is what reels you in, then the friendly, knowledgeable staff takes you on a magic carpet ride through Mexico City's finest dishes. We started off with the seared scallop appetizer, then we had the filet mignon featuring melted blue cheese and a raspberry sauce, and the Chilean sea bass with a creamy grape concoction- to die for! They have an entire wall devoted to their wine cellar, which is viewable from everywhere in the restaurant and the lounge has a very upscale, funky vibe that just makes you want to sip martinis. I highly recommend this new restaurant, you can definitely tell the owners are trying their best to provide a unique experience.
