Fondue restaurant melts away

| | Comments (2) |
Driving on the 15 Freeway this week, I noticed The Melting Pot has closed.

It turns out, after three years of bringing melted cheese into the community, the fondue joint shuttered last month. The closest restaurant is now in Pasadena and Brea.

I was curious of The Melting Pot but I never made it out there. Long summers and a skinny wallet prevented me from going. The restaurant, known for being on the pricey side (fondue for two could go for $87), always seemed out of place at the Wal-mart center.

Are there Melting Pot fans out there? Am I missing out?

No Wendy, don't even think about losing any sleep over not ever going there. We were there about 2 months after they opened for my step-daughter's 25 birthday and it was about 20 people and a 4 hour dinner! Look, I can stay home and make a great meal for a 1/4 of the cost and not have to "cook" my own cheese, meat and fruit...no big loss.

I'm surprised it closed! I never actually went there because each time I tried to go, there was too long of a wait. But I agree with you and Bob, that seems WAY too pricey for cheese, meat and fruit.
