What explains Morrell's victory?

| | Comments (6) |
"We had a message that was basically family, faith and low taxes and that seemed to be what people wanted. It seems like it resonated with people. I didn't try to be all thigs to all people."
-- Mike Morrell

"I think it was a funny election. People are angry; especially Republicans. They're angry and they're lashing out at anyone who's in office. Almost across the board, people who held office did not do very well."

-- Don Kurth

"The Republican primary tends to draw the most conservative voters. I think Mike Morrell rightly distinguished himself as more committed to extremely limited government. Don Kurth could have done well in the general election. He's kind of like the Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Assembly race. "

-- Rex Gutierrez

I was very happy with the results. I was pulling for Mike Morrell all along and would have loved to help out on the campaign. I didn't think he got himself out there enough, but I guess his mailings outnumbered Don's in the last few days and maybe that did it. (Thank goodness we finally got a recycling program in our condo, I would have been even more frustrated with the huge stack of flyers I received each day if not.)

People voted against Jessica Austin and somewhat against Chris Jones; mainly against Jessica Austin. People that approached her at public forums were becoming VERY tired of being called insane or on accused of using drugs.

VERY TIRED of it. Any valid question of concern brought before Jessica was met with zero address to the question or concern but with insult and aggression toward the person bring said question or concern. Too those of us that vote religiously, we talk- and all we talked about was our growing hatred of Jessica Austin and how much we wish to never hear or see from her again.

Don got caught in the cross fire. Don paid the the price and that was not fair to Don.

Plain and simple.

It does sound like "anonymous" is on drugs, perhaps insane, or maybe both?
Re-read the post - were J. Austin or C. Jones running for office?
I didn't think so - plain and simple.

This race was not Kurth's fault, it was his consultant who made the mistakes. Chris Jones ran a poor race and made some really bad decisions.

Jones style of doing nothing but mail cost him the election. Morrell's consultant did a much better job. He understands that nowadays radio and TV are also a major part of an Assembly campaign. It's that simple.

As far as the personal attacks against Jessica Austin, she wasn't in a decision making position on the campaign. No campaign managers are. So who ever the one person who hates her and keeps attacking her on all these posts, please take your obvious personal vendetta somewhere else.

Who hired C. Jones? Don Kurth.

Welcome to Politics American Style, circa 1776 - present, personal attacks are ALWAYS part of the equation.

Who hires the "consultants?" The candidates.

It's that simple.
