On the agenda: Planning Commission

| | Comments (10) |
Zendejas is looking to open a Mexican restaurant again on Foothill near Vineyard in the Big Lots/Osh shopping center. At tonight's 7 p.m. planning meeting, commissioners are expected to approve a conditional use permit allowing Zendejas to serve liquor. Zendejas once occupied a nearby spot in the Thomas Winery Plaza.

WinCo (you may know it if you shop in Fontana) wants to take over the old Mervyns spot on Foothill and Haven. The commission will discuss whether a supermarket is a good fit for the location. The site is part of the Terra Vista Community Plan, which does not included supermarkets as a permitted land use.

The Beverly Hills of the 909 can't have a WinCo. That would tarnish the image of such a wonderful city to live in. The disillusioned home owners who have lost Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars will never let it happen

I live in rancho and love WinCo....would love to have it so close rather than driving all the way to Fontucky. I don't see how it would tarnish the image...its a great store.

Rancho ain't no Beverly Hills. Peyton Place – maybe, but not Beverly Hills.

When Rex is elected mayor, he'll burnish the City's image: the tallest of the pygmies.

What's wrong with a WinCo? We already have a Food4Less, so why is WinCo any different? :)

Ok, everybody calm down...as long as we don't get a 99, oops, never mind...or a Big L, oops, never mind...or a Dollar, oops, never mind...ok, I got it... NO PIGGLY WIGGLY IN RANCHO!

That el be swell and just think of the traffic nightmare it will create. Not a good fit dont ya reckon, but the starry eyed council only see $ signs, after all the fire and police unions need more and more benefits dont ya know. I'll bet a possum to a sguirrel Winco moves in. By the way whats a Winco anyway?

My neighbor said he saw a Zendejas sign at the location of the failed Mission Inn spinoff at Foothill and Milliken. Have you heard about that? I thought that was strange since I knew they were trying to take over a spot in the lovely Big Lots complex at Vineyard.

Yea I'd love to see someone take over the Mervyn's (Nordtrom Rack perhaps!) but not a grocery store. Like others mentioned, not a good fit for that spot for accessibility reasons.

Why don't they look at the old Albertson's spot on Archibald? Would love to have another grocery store on that end of town!

Dean, 99 Ranch is slated to take over the old Albertsons on Archibald. Not long ago, we had mostly Ralphs and Albertsons in the city. Now there's a Trader Joes, two Fresh and Easys,a Henrys, and World Market. Winco and 99 Ranch are now on the way.
