Time for canyon clean-up
Supervisor Paul Biane is looking for volunteers to clean up graffiti and pick up trash at Cucamonga Canyon. The clean-up effort starts bright and early at 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 2. Volunteers will receive training, equipment, water and lunch afterward. You must be accompanied by a parent if you're under 18. Dress appropriately; hats, work gloves, sunglasses and sunscreen are recommended.

How appropriate for election time. Where were these good samaritan clean ups the last 4 years??
I know it's easy to be cynical about these things, but Supervisor Biane does a lot of community events even when it's not election time.
I've seen him at such events such as the dragonboat races up at Lake Gregory to benefit the regional parks and the Cucamonga Challenge in Rancho, for example.
Ultimately, any elected official makes time to meet constituents and tries to get their name out there attached to good things.
Actually the city, county, and water district decided to do the clean up due to the increased use of the canyon. If you have been up there on a weekend, you would know that there are hundreds of people that are hiking the area during the day and night. By cleaning the area, removing graffiti, and breaking up any fire rings, the planners are hoping to detour those who would use the area inappropriately. Who cares if it has anything to do with the elections, its getting done and that's the important part.
