City backs plans for veterans project
The City Council approved the conceptual design tonight for a veterans project slated for Central Park. The working title of the project is "Freedom Courtyard -- Honoring Past, Present and Future Veterans."
Shown here in this rendering is a timeline wall chronicling the major conflicts in history set in the semi-circle. The central monument is a water column with seals of the five branches of the armed services on the back. This monument will be located in an outdoor area between the senior and community centers.
There will be a fundraiser committee meeting tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. at Central Park to discuss ways to raise money for the project.
