All good vacations must end
To mark my fifth anniversary at the Daily Bulletin -- and because I maxed out on vacation days -- I took a 2.5 week vacation to Toronto/Boston/New York. This is the longest I've ever worked for one employer and the longest vacation I've ever taken.
Instead of feeling refreshed, I feel tired and disoriented. To catch my early morning flight out of Logan Airport, I woke up at 12:30 a.m. Pacific Time. I got to Ontario Airport at around
noon and was starving even though I've already eaten breakfast and lunch. What time is it? Why is it so hot here? How do I get to Pomona from Ontario?
A quick recap: The trip was mostly to visit family although there was some fun, food and fauna. The drive through upstate New York was full of green contrasted by red, yellow, brown and five shades of orange. It looked like Mother Nature was throwing a Thanksgiving sale.
Nearly as important as visiting family is eating good food. The best thing I ate was a Gray's Papaya hot dog, my favorite stand in NYC. I take it with sauerkraut and mustard. We also stopped at a Five Guys burger joint in Franklin, Mass., supposedly Obama's fave. Yes, I know there's a Five Guys in Orange but it seemed easier to fly to Mass.
Also pictured are hops from the Samuel Adams brewery in Boston (those green things at left), a steaming bowl of soba on a rainy day in Cambridge and ketchup potato chips, the quintessential Canadian snack. Other strange Canadian chip varieties are pickle and all-dressed, which is Ruffles version of an everything bagel.
I'll be back at work Wednesday. What did I miss?

Welcome back! Although because of modern technology, we hardly got to miss you. :)
Any pictures of you with the db?
Urgh! I forgot to pack a copy of the DB on my trip. All I had was my Rancho Cucamonga library card. Too small to show up in the photo.
At least you have your priorities right! :]
