'I did not deserve what happened today'

Verdict.JPG"I feel badly that I let a lot of people down. I feel badly I put my city and my community in a bad light. I still, to my dying day, believe I did not deserve what happened today."

-- Rex Gutierrez

"I think we all have to be accountable for our actions. We have a system in this country and the results are what they are. It's unfortunate for his family and everyone involved."

-- Mayor Don Kurth

"The jury's verdict confirms my suspicions that the former Assessor conspired to defraud San Bernardino County taxpayers by creating a political operation with public funds. Bill Postmus perverted the Board of Supervisors' desire to expand customer service in the Assessor's office, and he damaged the reputation of this county."

      -- Supervisor Paul Biane

"The verdict against Rex Gutierrez -- after two years, two trials and millions of taxpayers dollars -- is based on one convicted felon who's trading testimony for probation. It's a travesty and waste of scarce tax dollars. It stems from fictional theory that there was corruption associated with the Colonies settlement. This politically motivated investigation will end some day with confirmation that the settlement was honest and fair but the question remains: How long will this drag on, at what cost to taxpayers and how many more innocent lives will be hurt?"

Rex, I feel so sorry for your wife and children. Your wife is devoted to family and I am sure continues to believe all your excuses. You STILL show no accountability. Your corruption started the instant you were elected the first time as councilman.
You had high political ambitions and you felt you were above the law. You didn't care who you sacrificed on your way up. You didn't care what values and religious principles you had to throw to the wayside as long as you felt it was in the best interest of furthering your political career. Perhaps reflection in a secluded environment will provide you with the clues you need. YOU always had a way to justify your corruption. You just got caught this time.

Rex worked very hard for the homeowners in Rancho Cucamonga. He made a terrible mistake in letting his political ambitions cloud his judgment. Rex could not have voted to give his benefactor addt'l $32 million dollars of redevelopment money without the cooperation of the three incumbent council members. Two of those incumbents testified against him during his second trial - one is running for mayor. I am not voting for any incumbents and if the other incumbent runs for re-election, I will vote him out. It's time for the citizens of Rancho Cucamonga and San Bernardino County to eliminate the pervasive graft and corruption.

Wasn't Biane defending these guys early on, then he turned 'neutral', and now he's into throwing darts with the DA? Wow. I hope Jon Doe #5 soon becomes Defendant #5. Hypocrite.

MESSAGE TO JEFF BURUM: Tell Ric Grenell to shut up. The best thing you and your office could do at this point is keep your mouth shut. The community is against you; we are all convinced that you are part of this problem and that you have been walking on the other side of the ethical line profitting from tax payer money. These B*llshit statements of bravado about a witch hunt only make you look worse. If you can't say something honest, don't say anything at all. And get rid of Grenell - he's releasing these statements like he's writing an essay for english class.

IT'S ABOUT TIME, FINALLY JUSTICE IS SERVED!
WE WERE ALL SO TIRED OF HAVING TO WATCH AND LISTEN TO THIS GUY SIT THERE ON THE COUNCIL BOARD PLAYING AN ACT! HE'S ALWAYS BEEN A SHADY INDIVIDUAL! HE ALWAYS "TRIES" TO "ACT" LIKE HE'S SAYING THE PERFECT THING IN ANY GIVEN SITUATION ..... THIS IS WHY HE SPEAKS SO SLOWLY AND DRONES ON AND ON!... AND IT WAS ALWAYS AMAZING TO HEAR HIM THROW HIS DIGS AND SARCASTIC COMMENTS ABOUT OTHERS (HIDDEN INNUENDOS), BUT IN REALITY HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN LOOKING IN A MIRROR BECAUSE IT ALWAYS REFLECTED BACK UPON HIMSELF! WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND! THIS IS A GREAT TOWN WE HAVE HERE IN RANCHO CUCAMONGA AND WE DON'T NEED SOMEONE LIKE REX TARNISHING IT! FANTASTIC JOB AND KUDOS FOR ALL THOSE CRACKING DOWN ON THESE INDIVIDUALS AND OTHERS LIKE THEM!
GOD BLESS AMERICA AND GOD BLESS RANCHO CUCAMONGA!!!! EVENTUALLY, JUSTICE DOES PREVAIL!!!

This is hopefully the first major step in uncovering long-standing corruption in our local government. Gutierrez is merely a low level player in the grand scheme of the 'other individuals' involved in defrauding the taxpayers and SB County. This is nothing new its just a step up for the hidden names involved in LP Partners. The two principals in that facade have been defrauding lesser financially equipped individuals for years. Their unethical business practices and bullying have put many of us in dire straits. While most folks would like to consider honesty and forthrightedness as a cornerstone in our community there are those vultures, such as 'Pappa Jeff and Dirty Dan', and those that hang on to the money trail they provide, that simply prey on those naive enough to trust them. Hopefully this is the beginning of their downfall into the Pit that they have put so many others in. Unfortunately it may take longer than most of us would like to see but weather in this life, or the next may the flames of hell sere the infectious disease that breeds in their hearts.

If 3 new people are elected to the city that leaves 2 incumbents dennis michaels and sam spanolo left and they can be rid of when their term expires in 2 years in 2012 or maybe sooner.
This is the best window of opportunity and hopefully the rc residents will see this and act on it.

GREED ALWAYS TAKES THEM DOWN IN THE END! It isn't until they are caught (in any wrong doing or crime)when they say they're very sorry. Of course they're sorry---------- Sorry they were caught! That's the way it is with ALL criminals and cheaters!

Can you explain why, if your product is of such value and benefit to the various communities in which you build, you and your ilk find it necessary to make campaign donations, give gifts, provide "entertainment,” etc., to elected officials. Please let us know what community you have done business in where none of the aforementioned has occurred.

If you can…

I feel for REX and his family. I think things just got out of hand for him. However, that does not take away from the fact that he is the ONLY Councilman to truly help the people. He is just one of the 3 that voted on this project and I know how excited the rest of the council was over the 1200 acres in play by Los Osos HS. They were all for it, everyone of them. It is Obscene the amount of money Developers, Fire Union and the Police Union give to keep incumbents INCUMBENTS! Please vote out all the incumbents we need new life, new blood and new councilmembers!

Rex is responsible for his actions and will have to suffer the consequences. He is not a victim. He is a convicted criminal.
Let's vote for new people to represent Rancho. For Mayor, I am voting for Steinorth. Michael is part of the problem. In my opinion, the other two candidates don't have much of a chance of winning.
For City Council, I am voting for David Gonzalez and Jim Moffatt. Diane Williams is part of the problem. Chuck Buquet appears in ads with Michael and Williams, so that makes him part of the problem also. I personally don't know any of the candidates - mayoral or council. I am casting my vote for those that I believe will clean up the corruption in this city and then tackle the County. I am voting for Rutherford because hopefully Biane may be occupying a cell next to Rex and Postmus.

For all Rancho Cucamonga voters…BEWARE!! Chuck Buquet is more than tainted. It is amazing that he is trying to reenter the political arena after being voted off the council. His so called business... consulting, development service boasts that he resents NIMBY (not in my back yard-residents concerned with adjacent proposed development out of zoning compliance or in conflict with residential usage). He boasts that he is able to expedite projects in our city. His company also boasts that he has the knowledge to amend the general and specific plans of our city for the purpose of securing property and in so doing avoiding the legalities of amending the general plan for the general good of residential taxpayers I might add.

Chuck, talk about political honesty? Oh my goodness. Why didn’t you spell out your small business for the voters? I would rather have Rex Gutierrez on city council than you (and that is really something I never want to see)! YOU are in bed with the development community and businesses that are trying to circumvent our general plan. This is the same general plan that you take credit for and one that has made Rancho Cucamonga what it is today. TALK ABOUT CONFLICT OF INTEREST! Are you still going to run your small business if elected to office? Check out his website…Charles Joseph Associates , Rancho Cucamonga.

I have a question for you Chuck…Why didn’t you use your last name for your business?

I myself do not plan to vote for any of the incumbents. We need to clean up the current City Council by voting for new blood. Enough is enough.

Vote STEINORTH - MENDOZA - MOFFATT

3 for now and 2 in two years from now.

Get the vote out.......for Tuesday !

Get out Chuckie said:

That's why Chuckie is trying to buy a seat with his buddies raising $88,000!!! Most is from developers, red hill boys, unions, special interests! Just look at the 460 forms.

Fed up in Rancho said:

Check out the 460 forms in Wendys' blog. You will see that most of Chuckies donations came from developers and real estate people. Michael gets his contributions came from the fire union and seba, plus a large amount fron developers also. Now who do you think they owe their loyalty to. The citizens!!!! LOL DUH

Matt said:

Rancho would be smart NOT to elect Buquet to council. We just rid the city of one slimeball namely Rex, dont put another developer cozy one on the council. Get rid of Dennis Michael to, he's no friend to taxpayers.

Jim said:

Someone is afraid that Marc Steinorth will bring HONESTY to the city of Rancho, cause they are stealing his campaign signs. I know Marc and he's the ONLY honest one running in this election. Since Michael was associated with Rex Gutierrez, he probably will be investigated next and out of office before his term ends. May as well vote for someone who has no "SCANDAL EXPERIENCE", Marc Steinorth.

Hoffa said:

Wake up Rancho, Jeri Lee is spot on with the city council and I agree they should all be replaced. They are all beholding to developers and unions. I do not feel sorry for Rex and his wife because I'm sure he couldnt resist gloating to his wife how he now does no work and is getting paid, she should have said something, after all their God fearing people, right?

Rancho Mom said:

I can remember a write up by Mr. Rex about someone who was with the Quakes several years ago and how he bashed him about being a role model and what a bad person he was. Well Mr. Rex you are now a felon and a loser. Be done with our city and move out!!!!

Roman said:

Marc Steinorth is the only Mayoral candidate who is promising to bring jobs to Rancho, not to mention, he has not been involved in the city & county scandals. Rancho has way too many empty buildings that need to be filled. The present City Council recently closed 2 restaurant/ cantina's because of disturbances in the parking lots. That put more people out of work and took away City revenue. So the disturbances dragged a couple policemen out of donut shops to calm things down. We now have 2 more empty buildings. I think it's worth giving Steinorth a chance at creating jobs in our city since Obama isn't doing a thing to create jobs anywhere. Out with the OLD, who are not doing their jobs to anybody's satisfaction and in with the NEW. If Steinorth doesn't create jobs like he says he will, you can vote him out next election. It's practically a win win situation.
