New bridge on the way

Foothillbridge.JPGFoothillbridge2.JPGRoute 66 went from being 18 feet wide to three lanes then to four. By around this time next year, Foothill Boulevard west of Vineyard will be six lanes wide.

Part of that widening will be a new bridge near Baker that will link the Pacific Electric Trail from this city to Upland. The top photo is a rendering showing the east bound view of the new bridge with artwork showing the different states the mother road travels through. The bottom photo shows the west bound view.

I still think it would have been a fun opportunity for you to pose with a gold colored shovel, Wendy.

At this rate, circa the year 2100, Rancho will be widening the road to 12 lanes, and the 2011 bridge will be removed by a big crane to applause from the public (who will watch while wearing jetpacks).

Such a change. I still remember my mom Bessie Moore driving the school bus for Central School and alway's having to SQUEEZE through the old bridge.

The renderings were prepared by Alaedin Moubayed, MS,PE. of Jacobs Engineering for the City of Rancho Cucamonga
