This festival is for the furry
The Furry Friends Festival, a sort of county fair for animal lovers, will take place Oct. 23 with a pancake breakfast, walk-a-thon, pet look-alike contest and other activities geared for pets and their owners. Funds raised at the 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. event will benefit the city's Animal Care and Adoption Center.
The day starts at 8 a.m. with a $5 pancake breakfast prepared by the Rotary Club and the Rancho Cucamonga First Baptist Church.
From 9 to 10 a.m. there will be a one-mile walk at the Quakes Stadium. Registration is $25 per walker and participants are encouraged to seek pledges from friends and family.
At 10:30 a.m., there will be obedience, agility and K-9 demonstrations, a pet look-alike contest and other activities. Veterinarians and trainers are available throughout the day to answer questions and pet adoptions, microchipping and vaccinations will also be offered for a fee.
