Change your batteries, too

Actually, there's one more thing to do apart from sleeping in and changing your clocks. Change your smoke detector batteries. I know that's a lot for one weekend but you're already up there standing on a chair, changing the clock. Just move it over to the smoke detector.

This week, a family in this city was able to escape from a fire unharmed because the smoke detector woke them up.

"The kind of fires we like are the ones that never happen," Fire Chief Mike Bell tells me. "Or if they do, they don't make the news."
