Check out website, maybe get an iPad
The city got its first website in 1996, which featured a mayor's message from a brown-haired Bill Alexander. There were just a few pages of information on that site and you had to read it on Netscape.
Today there are all kinds of features on the new website including My Rancho, which allows you to customize your own page. Create an account for My Rancho and you can win one of two iPads. The first will be given out on Dec. 16 and the other one on Feb. 7 -- kinda like an early Christmas or Valentine's Day present.

OK I set-up an account but the website doesn't say anything about any iPads.
I can't promise anything, RanchoDad. But the press release I got promises two iPads. I was going to point you to the release but it turns out, the press release about the new website isn't on the new website.
Wendy, Once again it appears the city has lied to you. Same old city bull.
I don't think so, Fed up. I think they're really going to give away iPads. It's the "it" gift these days.
It's a fact! A total of 2 iPads (donated by AEF Systems) will be given away. Create a Log In in the My Rancho area and be entered to WIN - deadline to enter is end of business day Dec. 15th for Dec. 16th drawing and end of business day Feb. 6th for Feb. 7th drawing. We'll post info on the News section of the website homepage to aid in communicating this promotion - GOOD LUCK to all! We encourage everyone to - - Discover My Rancho @ www.CityofRC.us
Hey Wendy, maybe you can do a little "investigating" and confirm that there are going to be i-Pads given away and those who registered yesterday (like me) will have a chance to win one. We relied on their press release after all. You would hate to have your readers rely on your reporting only to find out it's not true.
You mean like hide out in City Hall and look for two iPads? I think I'll take Francie's word. She works for the Community Services Department. Good luck, RanchoDad. If you win, you can read RC Now on your iPad.
Thanks Wendy, I stand corrected about the city this time.
Hey - if you all just look the press release is there, just not on the first page. It appears the City did not date it, so it got pushed down the list off the first page. Go to news, scroll down to "archives", click on that, and you will see it at the top of the page.
Here is what it says:
Discover "My Rancho" and be entered to WIN an iPad!
Register by Dec. 15th for Dec. 16th Drawing
AEF Systems has graciously donated two iPads for us to give away in celebration of the launching of the new City website! This new, dynamic, interactive website provides a special opportunity for visitors to create a customized “My Rancho” area – with the ability to have the user select the information and events they are interested in having at their finger-tips when they visit the website.
Create a log-in at the “My Rancho” section – and you’ve automatically been entered to WIN! The first drawing will be held December 16th (register by end of business day December 15th) and the second will be given away on February 7th (register by end of business day February 6th). (City Employees are not eligible to win)
