Girls rule this weekend

glitter.jpgThe Flipside Church will hold a girls-only community event that's all about personal empowerment. On Friday and Saturday, girls from toddlers (must be potty trained) to teenagers can show up for a night of crafts, food and an opportunity to get dolled up for a fashion show. Stylists will be there to turn participants into princesses, pirates, fairies and other personalities.

The cost is $15 at the door. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. on both nights with a fashion show at 8 p.m. The church is on 10912 Jersey Blvd.

What's so empowering about playing princess? All it does is give girls an undeserved sense of entitlement.

I want to see an event where girls can dress up to pretend to be Ada Lovelace, Marie Curie, or Rear Admiral Grace Hopper.

You know.. Women with brains.

It's just fun, Stephen. Get a grip. Seriously.

An "undeserved sense of entitlement?" How does wanting to play dress-up & appreciating what God made beautiful considered an "undeserved sense of entitlement?" So what if a girl wants to pretend to be Ada Lovelace or a princess! Dressing up & hanging out with friends is just plain fun! It takes brains, imagination, confidence, & wisdom to simply enjoy life & to not take oneself too seriously.

Thank God for events like Glitter Glam!

You know...where girls can get together & appreciate the TOTAL PACKAGE! (Brains included)
