Playhouse to stage Anne of Green Gables
There's an Anne of Green Gables marathon on Sunday starting at noon on KVCR. That's channel 24 where I live.
It just so happens, the story of orphan Anne Shirley will also be staged at the Lewis Family Playhouse from May 7 to May 22. The musical adaption, appropriate for children 7 and older, caps off the fifth season of the MainStreet Theatre Company.
"I hope that people who see the film will be excited to come see our production," said MainStreet producer Murry Hepner in a statement. "The adaption is very true to the book and the music is luscious."
The shows will be staged at 1 and 4 p.m. on Saturdays and 1 p.m. on Sundays. On May 15, the matinee will be interpreted in American Sign Language. There is no performance on May 8. Tickets are $17; $15 for seniors and $14 for youth ages 12 and under.
Check back in this space for information about the children theater company's sixth season, which will be unveiled next month.
