CEugenio.JPGWe mourn the death of Sgt. Carlo Eugenio, 29, who died in Kabul, Afghanistan when a suicide bomber attacked a NATO convoy on Saturday. Eugenio's military banner hung outside the family home today.

Eugenio's remains were flown to the Dover Air Force Base in Delaware on Monday.

An Etiwanda High graduate, Eugenio is the first California National Guardsman to die in combat in Afghanistan.

Leaving the politics aside and as a PROUD father of a Navy Corpsman who has "survived" 4 deployments...I sit here and wipe the tears from my eyes in memory of Sgt.Eugenio. The same eyes that have shed tears for the Brewster Family, the Pallares Family and ALL of the local families that have had to endure the "ultimate sacrifice". God Bless you all!

My heart goes out to the Eugenio family. My son was serving with Sgt. Eugenio and I feel very sad to hear your this family's loss. I know that all are proud of the ultimate sacrifice he gave for our freedoms. God be with this family. Love and prayers.
