Congratulations to Sage Young, 12, who placed third in the
L.A. Lakers NBA Fit/WNBA Fit Dribble, Dish and Swish regional competition in Los Angeles. The Dribble, Dish and Swish program gives boys and girls an opportunity to show off their dribbling, passing and shooting skills in a time-based basketball competition against their peers. More than 40,000 children ages 7 to 12 took part in local competitions around the country.
Sage, pictured here, a seventh grader at Deer Creek Intermediate, won the local competition at the Boys and Girls Club in Palm Springs last month and advanced to the regional match. There, he got a chance to meet broadcasters John Ireland, Billy MacDonald and Mychal Thompson.
