The Redlands East Valley football team made a statement Friday night and it was loud and clear.
REV 44, Dominguez 14.
Up against their third straight high-caliber opponent, the Wildcats pummeled the Dons behind Chris Polk' magical 238 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
"We were good in the first half and great in the second half," REV head coach Kurt Bruich told his Wildcats in the team huddle shortly following the victory.
Once the game was over, much of the talk was how the Wildcats just conquered the three-headed monster of a nonleage schedule that included CIF champion Riverside North, San Bernardino County power Colton and the Dons.
REV senior defensive lineman Quentin Toaila explains: "We had Riveside Country down and San Bernardino County down. All we had to do was LA."
Afterwards, Dominguez head coach Willie Donerson spoke highly of REV's defensive line.
"That defensive line was huge - we couldn't move those guys," he said. "They didn't look that big on film."
After the Wildcats took a 17-7 lead at halftime, Polk scored a 41-yard touchdown on his first run of the second half. He would have runs of 44, 26, 41, 34 and 45 yards in the game.
Now comes Citrus Belt League play for the Wildcats, who have to deemed the overwhelming legue favorites after one impressive three weeks of football.
Eisenhower High School is the lucky team on Friday.
