Terriers conquer the O.C.
It was a perfect week of basketball for the Redlands High School boys, who captured their second tournament title of the season after a 70-54 victory over Anaheim Canyon in the champion game of the Irvive World News Tournament on Saturday night.
Junior Tristan Kirk led the way for the Terriers, scoring a team-high 19 points on a 7-of-9 shooting day, including a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc.
Junior Ricky Peetz added 12 points and sophomore Matt Green scored nine for the Terriers, who turned a 13-11 deficit in the first quarter into a 32-24 lead at halftime. A 23-14 run in the third quarter helped put away the game.
Kirk was selected MVP of the tourney with Josh Green and Peetz earning all-tournament honors.
It was the third straight win for the Terriers over a school from Orange County and eighth straight overall. They will take that 8-0 record into Citrus Belt League play when they face Carter and A.B. Miller this upcoming week.
