Whitworth University: Your 2007 Lee Fulmer champions...

It was a stellar three days of basketball for Whitworth University, which captured the 60th annual Lee Fulmer Memorial Tournament championship after a 93-58 blasting of the University of Redlands on Saturday night.
The Pirates, a Division III team from Spokane, won their three Fulmer games by an average of 29 points.
It marked the second time the Pirates entered the tournament and the second time they won it. They knocked off Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the 2002-03 final by a 73-62 score.
The Bulldogs got blitzed from the start, falling behind 12-0 with freshman guard David Riley making three straight 3-pointers during the stretch. By halftime, the Pirates held a 42-19 lead.
"We got hot," Whitworth head coach Jim Hayford said. "And it got them out of their game."
UR senior guard Dave Thomas was one of six players named to the all-tournament team.
Whitworth's senior forward Ryan Simes was named the tourney MVP. He shot 7 of 8 from the field with a game-high 20 points.
