High School Baseball: Who's the best?
Chatsworth High's Mike Moustakas and Matt Dominguez are both expected to be taken in the top 10 of Thursday's Major League Baseball draft. Which begs the question - who's the best baseball player in Valley history? We've had Don Drysdale, Robin Yount, Jon Garland and John Elway. Who do you like? Gotta be John Elway. State player of the Year, City player of the year ( twice ? ), 2 city championships. Great pitcher/infielder and outfielder. Besides being in the top 2-3 quarterbacks of all-time.

How do you mention Jon Garland and not Randy Wolf. Wolf was a much better pitcher and hitter in high school. Even now I would say Wolf is better.

I'd have to say Justin Fargas.

What about Dwight Evans, or Doug DeCinces? 0r even Rick Auerbach, or Larry Dierker, or Bret Saberhagen? There were a BUNCH of great players to come from SFV... certainly these guys weren't the greatest, but a little research might show that the Valley is one of the largest contributors to MLB during the 60's, 70's, and 80's...

Even though my pick is biased, I would have to say Rod Beck out of Grant High School.
