Do you think Lindsay Lohan's sentence was fair? How about Nicole Richie's 82-minute jail stay?
Lindsay Lohan reached a plea deal that calls for her to spend one day in jail and serve 10 days of community service after she was arrested twice for DUI, both times possessing a small amount of cocaine. Do you think her sentence was fair? What about Nicole Richie only serving 82 minutes of her four-day jail sentence for driving under the influence? Is a double-standard at work here?

I think that all the starlets of today are an embarrassment to hollywood and place a blemish upon society. Would anyone else in the entire USA get the same punishment as any celeb. I mean has anyone ever heard of some who has been busted for drunk driving, with more than one count (let alone 7), and had possession of an illegal substance then get to have a slap on the wrist with one day of jail time. This is just a joke on how bad our judicial system is.

If you're famous and rich--the law doesn't apply to you like the rest of us!! Go figure!!

WHO CARES ANYMORE. I don't even want to know. These stars are above the law and they KNOW that they can get away with it. It's a crime, the prosecutors, defense attorneys and judges should be charged. The legal system is NOT BALANCED, it is NOT EQUAL for all. DONE,and DAMN mad about the whole issue.

I think someone should fly Lindsay Lohan to Jena, LA to give the media something serious to talk about.
It is a scandal that the media are ignoring the story around the six Black high school students now known as the Jena 6.
Nooses hanging from their schoolyard tree, and none of the white kids get arrested for disturbing the peace, yet the pick on these six young men who did nothing more than sit under the schoolyard tree where only white kids had been hanging out.
If Lohan's publicist is reading this post I dare you to take her to Jena to bring the media to a real story.

Any other low-life fool from middle to lowest income levels would have been granted felony counts for (1.)Possession of cocain,(2.)Transporting, (3.)Trafficing,(4.)Disturbution for buying & $ale,(5.)DUI of control substance,(6.)DUI alcohol/etc.,(7.)Reckless driving,(8.)Possession of deadly weapon & (9.)2nd DUI offense. What is fair punisment in this great civilized country where all man, woman,& child are created EQUAL under GOD AND JUSTICE FOR ALL or,for just those ABOVE THE LAW HUMANITY?!#%^

I'm so over these young celebs thinking they are untouchable. There are real problems in this world and yet all anyone wants to talk about is this junk! The day Paris was arrested--there was a bomb scare in the Miracle Mile area and entire buildings were evacuated on Wilshire Blvd. (along with street closures and traffic snarls)--not a single word in the news--only Paris. We know these celebs are never going to face the same consequences that the rest of us would in the exact same set of circumstances--so why all the press? And even though I really enjoyed watching the spoiled princess being cuffed and hauled off in the back of a police car--there was real news going on all around us! Karma will eventually catch up to these girls and they will end up paying the piper--sevenfold--but enough is enough! We all know that the justice system is unbalanced and maybe we (the taxpayers) should take more notice of what's really going on and elect people who will enforce the law equally--no matter who you are!! And if the public was paying more attention we wouldn't have created these celeb monsters in the first place.

I would like the Daily News to find out if special considerations were given by the District Attorney Office, especially since an average person would have received PRISON time rather than a "day" in jail. Obviously there is a double standard here.....or there are LAZY lawyers at the DA's office.

Oh yes! I think the wrong message was sent regarding her behavior in fact none registered. Therefore, will it happen again? I'd say most certainly.

The sentence definitely refelects how the "Good Old Boys" in our justice system are influenced by wealth and beauty - if it were any of us "plain" women, we'd have the book thrown at us and the jail-house key thrown away!

The bigger problem is now more people will use the "Paris/Lohan" defense. DA's saying that they are getting the standard punishment are out of touch with they're own court rooms

Very simple:
It's a joke.
They're making a huge joke out of our justice system and if you aren't going to treat them equally in the court room: instead of going light on these people the punishments should be harsher.
Martha Stewart's punishment was a joke. Paris Hilton's was a joke. Nicole Ricchie's was a joke. Lindsay Lohan's was a joke.
One day in jail? That's an outrage. Where's their quitting time program? Where's there Parole officer and required check ins? They should not be getting off easy at all, and the leaders of California should be ashamed of the supposed justice that's being dolled out in their state.
This is making me sick.
If lindsay lohan or any of them wanted to have a shot at fame or public respect after this, their best bet would be to say "No, I want a fair sentence. There are normal people everyday who are given much worse and it's not right that we have a double standard such as this."
However you don't have to have moral fibre to be pretty and rich, so I guess they never bothered themselves with any of that.
This is so funny I'm forgetting to laugh.
I'll keep forgetting tomorrow, too.

I'm so sick of it! One day in jail is a walk in the park, why bother. The rest blows me away especially the narcotics part, if it was me I'd be gone in jail for months with all kinds of fees and probation. These actors have the money to hire drivers but nooooo they gotta keep wreckin nice cars and runnin away. Oh well theres the justice system for ya.
