LAUSD and Superintendent David Brewer III
During his back-to-school address, Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent David Brewer III has promised accountability from administrators and other reform measures to turn around the 708,000-student district. Will his reforms work? What will it take to improve the district?

Brewer seemed eager to get the LAUSD job but he does not seem to want the job. What a shame when will LAUSD get reformed?

Brewer, you're a military man. Tell 'em to shape up
or ship out.
Beyond that:
1- Uniforms to even the playing field and eliminate gang banger shooters' targets, not to
mention saving butt crack exposure and time getting dressed.
2- Clear a desk for the INS. Deport all the little illegals, thus freeing up teaching
time for the 'real' kids.
3- Ditto the LAPD's gang units.
4- Damn the Feds money! Stop teaching to the test. Teach! Do the best damn job you can teaching, and more should pass.
5- Weed out the students with learning disabilities and send them to trade classes, while still teaching them the basics of English.
Even plumbers, carpenters, and construction workers have to be able to read and write ENGLISH.

It's a huge up-hill battle that remains uncertain whether it can even be won. HOWEVER, LAUSD Superintendent David Brewer delivered an inspirational and re-assuring speech to LAUSD educators at Friday's Annual meeting.
I am a fan and believer in the methods of Dr. W. Edwards Deming and his 14 point quality management philosophy.
And in my opinon, Brewer delivered a home run of a world-class speech in the spirit of Deming on Friday.
If he is able to accomplish the goal, at least it appears to me, based on his speech, that we at least have a leader that knows what to do and by what method to accomplish the goal.
Let's hope that's enough to get the job done. But I can't imagine anyone else who could sell you from the front of the stage on his plan than Brewer just did.
you can read the whole speech and see the video at the lausd.net website. (see superintendent page)
