It would be the biggest mistake for jerry Buss since trading Shaq, thay should try to build around Kobe, put A good enough center and my opinion as the best center to pair with Kobe is no other than Dwight Howard it would be magical to see them work together.

I am a Laker's fan and I love Kobe, but you have to trade him or in two years he is gone and the Lakers will have nothing to show for it! Buss will have to get the best deal available in the next two years including some 1st round draft picks!

Why even consider it...if Buss would just spend the money and bring in some power players like Jermaine O'Neal or Shawn Marion (who recently commented he would love to play for the Lakers) it would at least be taking this team in the right direction. He's putting way to much faith in Bynum and what he could be. Kobe is at his prime RIGHT NOW, make the necessary trades to build the team around Kobe. I think a trade of Deng, Gordon and Noah from Chicago to LA for Bryant and player(s) needed to complete the trade might be worth a look. If Kolbe is unhappy or plans to leave at first chance, the Lakers should consider a trade.

These players from Chicago along with Bynum, Crittenton, Farmar, Walton and Turiaf would form a very solid young core that could contend in the future.

Even currently, with the veterans, Odom, Mihm, Evans, etc. this team would most likely be the same level (5-8 seed) as they would be with Kobe.

I think the trade would make sense for the current team and for the future.

The management sucks and wouldn't know how to trade kobe. Well, calling this a mess is an understatement. Forget WHO is at fault here (actually, BOTH parties).

The fact of the matter is this is a situation that needs to be fixed. And, the only way to do that sadly, is to trade Kobe.

Phoenix? Very doubtful. Unless overwhelmed, that will not happen in your own division.
Dallas? Although a trade for Dirk and spare parts would be a trade I would like, I doubt that happens either because of the same reason as the Suns possibilty.

That leaves us Chicago. They have the young players(Deng, Gordon,etc) they can package up, add an expiring contract (for salary cap purposes) and a 1st round choice or two with the deal and there you have it.

The Lakers promised the coach, their franchise player and its fans that they were going to built another team soon that would be ready to compete for championship...and after 3 years, if this is the team they can come up with, I dont blame Kobe for wanting to leave...if he doesn't do anything about it, he will be in Kevin Garnett situation in Minnesota wasting his prime years...if lakers dont do anything anytime soon, he will be gone...

Given all the rumors circulating over the past couple of days, I couldnt help but start to wonder what type of players the Lakers can get in return for Kobe. Kobe Bryant, in my eyes, is bar-none the best basketball player in the NBA, and arguably the most talented player to play the game. The problem, and the argument most people make, is that Kobe has not made his teammates better. On the other hand, its hard to make your teammates better when you are playing with a bunch of puppies who wouldn't be starting on another team, with the exception of Odom. So now you have a disgruntled superstar and you are trying to let him go because management, and by that I mean Jim Buss and Kupchak(the dumbest GM in the history of the game), could not get better players to surround him. Even if the Bulls gave up Deng and a package of other players, it would take years before they build the appropriate chemistry to make some noise in the West. Bottom line is there is nobody available worth trading Kobe for, with the exception of Lebron and maybe Wade. Instead, the Lakers should make the trade for Jermaine O'neal, and try to win now. I realize it might be a risk, but the downside of trading the greatest player in the game is much higher than taking the risk by setting him up with another superstar.

Their is no way Chicago is giving up Deng and Gordon. I live in Chicago and I can tell you Gordon and Dend is not happening, maybe one or the other Gordon or Deng but not both.
