It would be the biggest mistake for jerry Buss since trading Shaq, thay should try to build around Kobe, put A good enough center and my opinion as the best center to pair with Kobe is no other than Dwight Howard it would be magical to see them work together.
I am a Laker's fan and I love Kobe, but you have to trade him or in two years he is gone and the Lakers will have nothing to show for it! Buss will have to get the best deal available in the next two years including some 1st round draft picks!
Trade Kobe? Why even consider it...if Buss would just spend the money and bring in some power players like Jermaine O'Neal or Shawn Marion (who recently commented he would love to play for the Lakers) it would at least be taking this team in the right direction. He's putting way to much faith in Bynum and what he could be. Kobe is at his prime RIGHT NOW, make the necessary trades to build the team around Kobe. I would hate to see him go somewhere else and the Lakers get stuck with a roster of mediocre benchwarmers all because they want to take the chance on Andrew Bynum. Give up Kobe and we've got nothing! Jerry Buss needs to be a man and stick to his promises of building this team around Kobe by bringing in talent. DO IT ALREADY!
Trade him. Sell him to the highest bidder RIGHT NOW while he's under contract, and you can get something for him.
He is a classic "attitude problem" and is NOT going to ever be able to make the players around him better than they might be individually (like Magic Johnson could do).
Sell him to the higest bidder like the prized puppy from the recent litter.
In 2 years when his contract is over, HE'S GONE ANYWAY...AND YOU GET NOTHING FOR HIM.
What idiot would trade the best player in the world...oh, Jerry Buss would!!!! Stupid...no wonder Kevin Garnett said he's glad he didn't get caugtht up in the mess...so, let me get this straight...you trade Smush Parker, your 3rd leading scorer...only real point gaurd...because he had an attitude...but you keep Brian Cook...who has averaged 6 points his whole career, no defense, and throws his jersey at one of the best coaches in the game, because he didnt get good playing time...you keep Bynum...who clearly can't gaurd or score on anyone on the Warriors team, cried because he didn't get playing time last year...but he's the future...sing Luke "nobody-special" Walton to a multi-million dollar deal...but you wanna trade Kobe...the best player in the "World"...I would start a Riot!!!! Idiots...who leaves decisions of a franchise to their kids...
Get rid of him. I was a huge kobe fan, not any more! Let him cry somewhere else this is L.A.
Theres no crying in BBall, Man up and always play your best. He should be trying to make his team mates better not trashing them. Idiot go cry some place else.
No! No! No! trade Luke Walton to Japan because no one seem to want him but the lakers. He and his daddy appear to hate Kobe and that is why the players have not bought into Kobe's type of dynamic playing tactics.
All will be fun with the lakers and no one would be writing negative mess!!!!!!!!
_Trade him. He may be the most talented player right now, but you can't win with 1 player. I don't think anyone would want to play with him anyway. You need a team. Jordan had Pippen, Kerr, etc... Magic had Kareem, Worthy, etc...
I think a trade of Deng, Gordon and Noah from Chicago to LA for Bryant and player(s) needed to complete the trade might be worth a look. If Kolbe is unhappy or plans to leave at first chance, the Lakers should consider a trade.
Does anyone know if this trade could work financially? I know Deng and Gordon are currently in the front end of contract negotiations.
These players from Chicago along with Bynum, Crittenton, Farmar, Walton and Turiaf would form a very solid young core that could contend in the future.
Even currently, with the veterans, Odom, Mihm, Evans, etc. this team would most likely be the same level (5-8 seed) as they would be with Kobe.
I think the trade would make sense for the current team and for the future.
Trade the management for another management team. You had the greatest tandem ever. Buss needs to spend the $$$ to get players and just because a player calls you out doesnt mean u need to get rid of him. besides they bring in the money. trade kobe and see how many season tickets are renewed. cook is soft and he gets and extension. buss talks about a trade for his hardest working player. fire cupchak..elton brown is no elton brand. maybe cupcake thought it was elton b. buss needs to pay the $$$..besides he charges an arm and a leg for nose bleeds
The management sucks and wouldn't know how to trade kobe. They messed up bigtime when they traded shaq and didnt get equal value. they got brian grant to match the pay but not the talent. they will get an overpriced nonimpact player just to trade kobe. so think twice for what you wish for laker fans. cupcake is still making decisions.. imagine if cupcake held his ground and said no shaq , if we dont get d. wade. riley even admitted he would of traded. cupcake sucks and he cant evaluate talent. west brought in eddie jones, nick van excel, shaq, and kobe. e.jones and nick at least brought in some showtime plays. cant say much for cook and farmar. baron davis was there but they questioned his health. i'll take a banged up davis over a healthy cook anytime.
What happened to the glory Laker days? The management was not thinking well enough. Now I doubt my loyalty to the Lakers team, seems the clash of minds retardates the team, now its back the Celtics glorious days is dawning, pity to my favorite now hanging awry and in disarray just do it guys move on and put the Laker team on the throne back once again.
Thats dumb!!!!Jerry Bus does not know What he is talking about..Hes just selfish and thinking of himself.insted of thinking of whats good for the team and good for the fans.OVERALL KOBE SHOULD STAY.BECAUSE WITHOUT KOBE THERE ARE NO LAKERs
All u people who are hating on kobe and are saying to trade him are just jelous little bitches who dont know what you are saying. Kobe may be a ball hog and also may be selfsh but who does he have to give the ball to.lamar may be good but he hasnt done shit!!!!And half of our team has been injuerd. So why trade jobe when hes the one winning ur games.if kobe wasnt in the lakers we would 0-82 in the season.
In today's world people have forgotton about the era destiny. They seem to want to change it; therefore, things go bad!!!!
I am from the old school of basketball thoughts and reactions! Most people would say that I am stupid for the above statement.
Labron James and other young players prove that if it is not in the heart and instinct to play with the magic, kareem, kobe and others will to be the best, ALL THE TRAINING IN THE WORLD WILL NOT GET ANY ACCOMPISHMENTS!!!!!!
I THINK THIS IS A POWER WAR!! WHO IS THE MOST POWERFUL PERSON.
WINNING IS ON THE BASKETBALL COURT AND THE MONEY TO PUT PEOPLE ON THE BASKETBALL COURT COMES FROM PLAYERS LIKE KOBE.
Kobe made money for the team his first year and have continued. Fans can see the players that want to entertain and win. Spurs win!!! Kobe brings fans and more fans. Fans gives money. Loyalty is good, power is good but money is what pay for LOYALTY AND POWER!!!
I'LL STICK WITH KOBE-WHERE EVER: TEAM, PLACE OR WHAT EVER. IT IS APPARENT THAT IF THE PLAYERS ARE HEALTHY OR NOT, KOBE HAS TO PLAY TOO HARD. ALL PLAYERS ARE PAID BUT VERY FEW PLAY HARD FOR SELF PRIDE, FANS AND THE ORGANIZATION!!!!!!
Well, calling this a mess is an understatement. Forget WHO is at fault here (actually, BOTH parties).
The fact of the matter is this is a situation that needs to be fixed. And, the only way to do that sadly, is to trade Kobe.
Of course, you want the most back for him. The teams that might be interested know that and have the Lakers over a barrel in a sense.
Phoenix? Very doubtful. Unless overwhelmed, that will not happen in your own division.
Dallas? Although a trade for Dirk and spare parts would be a trade I would like, I doubt that happens either because of the same reason as the Suns possibilty.
That leaves us Chicago. They have the young players(Deng, Gordon, etc) they can package up, add an expiring contract (for salary cap purposes) and a 1st round choice or two with the deal and there you have it.
Kobe to Chicago and the face of the Lakers changed forever.
Will I be happy? Of course not. BUT, considering the mess this is at now, I feel that is the best scenario. The Lakers are NOT going to win WITH Kobe as is. The Lakers are NOT going to add players to the current team with Kobe on it to try to help to improve the chances as is.
So, you back up the truck and ship KB24 off into the sunset.
I keep hearing "KEEP KOBE! KEEP KOBE!" Why???????? Yes Kobe is a great player but that's not everything. People say he give 110% on the court, makes money for the organization and supports the fans. Open your eyes people!!!! Look and listen to Kobe's word and his body language!!!! His interviews are so sugar-coated with how he cares for the Lakers, his teammates and the fans. He's full of himself and that's the bottom line. "BABY BRAT BRYANT" "Wah Wah Wah....I want better players around me." "I want a championship." "I want, I want, I want...." Marquee players are not knocking on the Laker's door trying to get traded to L.A. so they could play with Kobe. I've talked with some past pro players who say they would rather stay on a team with good chemistry and than play with an EGO like Kobe. Kobe's personality and attitude is like a disease. It makes a team sick and spreads nothing but problems throughout an organization. Sure, everybody wants to win. There are around 400 players in the NBA and only 15 or so will end the season with a championship ring. Kobe is the loudest cry baby out of the 385 "non-winners." Let him go! Trade him! Get rid of him!" It does not matter if the Lakers can't get a Lebron James or Kevin Garnett. Re-building takes time. Doing it without Kobe will build honor and pride to an organization that has been humiliating itself by letting Kobe bring it down. I've been a Laker fan since the 1960's but have a hard time supporting a team with a player that has discredited himself so much in his personal and professional life.
Trading Kobe Bryant would be the single greatest mistake in Laker History. How do you lose the two best players in the world within five years? As a Laker fan, it's embarrasing.
Just like J-Ri said which is true but I think it will be the worst mistake in sports and in LA. Jerry Buss needs to leave because he is looking like AL DAVIS (and i am not a Raider Fan) make some wrong moves. Get Mitch Kupkake out and let Jerry WEST come back to LA and control and maybe he will buy the lakers (wont happen) and make KOBE happy the lakers and the fans. You can't trade Kobe, did Bulls trade or thought of trading Jordan, NO! Get better players. What is going to happen is Kobe is going to win a championship whatever he goes (Dallas or Chicago) and make the lakers look bad just like when SHAQ got his other ring. DON'T TRADE KOBE
The Lakers are not going to be a winner until they fire Mitch Kupcake and Jimmy Buss. They need to get someone in management who can evaluate talent. I could draft better then these two( Cook,Farmar, Turiaf,Sasaja,Bynum, etc.)and their trades Evans, Mihm,Brown,Odom,Parker I dont need to go on you get the picture. What does Mitch have ON Buss any other owner would have gotten ride of Mitch long ago. By the way what did he get for Shag?
The Lakers promised the coach, their franchise player and its fans that they were going to built another team soon that would be ready to compete for championship...and after 3 years, if this is the team they can come up with, I dont blame Kobe for wanting to leave...if he doesn't do anything about it, he will be in Kevin Garnett situation in Minnesota wasting his prime years...if lakers dont do anything anytime soon, he will be gone...
Given all the rumors circulating over the past couple of days, I couldnt help but start to wonder what type of players the Lakers can get in return for Kobe. Kobe Bryant, in my eyes, is bar-none the best basketball player in the NBA, and arguably the most talented player to play the game. The problem, and the argument most people make, is that Kobe has not made his teammates better. On the other hand, its hard to make your teammates better when you are playing with a bunch of puppies who wouldn't be starting on another team, with the exception of Odom. So now you have a disgruntled superstar and you are trying to let him go because management, and by that I mean Jim Buss and Kupchak(the dumbest GM in the history of the game), could not get better players to surround him. Even if the Bulls gave up Deng and a package of other players, it would take years before they build the appropriate chemistry to make some noise in the West. Bottom line is there is nobody available worth trading Kobe for, with the exception of Lebron and maybe Wade. Instead, the Lakers should make the trade for Jermaine O'neal, and try to win now. I realize it might be a risk, but the downside of trading the greatest player in the game is much higher than taking the risk by setting him up with another superstar.
KOBE SHOULD BE A LAKER FOR LIFE LIKE ALL THE OTHER GREAT LAKERS THAT HAVE FOLLOWED BEFORE HIM. BUSS MADE THE BIGGEST MISTAKE BY GETTING RID OF SHAQ, WHO SHOULD HAVE RETIRED A LAKER!!!! HE WOULD MAKE A BIGGER MISTAKE BY GETTING RID OF KOBE, THE BEST PLAYER IN THE NBA!!!!! PRAY THAT THE LAKER FRONT OFFICE AND KOBE GET THIS WORKED OUT AND GET!!!!!! ALONG!!!!!
Let him go NOW & screw up some other team's chemistry. I recall Ray Allen's comments when Kobe got the big contract after Shaq left - Kobe would want out in 2-3 years. Guess he was right... Win or lose, let's get some good players committed to a team concept.
Okay it is obvious enough that many Lakers fans don't know basketball.
The best thing right now is to trade unhappy distraction whiny moody Kobe.
Bring back players that move the ball and play a team game like Phil always wanted. Go after Kidd and rid yourself of another underachieving young guy.
Then pick up either Dirk or Deng in the Kobe trade plus as many high picks as possible and move on.
I am sick of dealing with Kobe's drama. The best case scenario would be if somehow Buss and Mitch can be included in the deal. I'd love to see all 3 go.
Kidd, Bryant, Odom, any center & any forward. That was supposed starter looks like this year, and we already be a contender.
No wonder Kobe called buss an idiot...
No teams wants trade with bryant, because in 2009 Kobe will be in their lap.
Kobe just choose the best player, best front office, and the best offer on the table.
Their is no way Chicago is giving up Deng and Gordon. I live in Chicago and I can tell you Gordon and Dend is not happening, maybe one or the other Gordon or Deng but not both. What you Laker fans have to understand is the Lakers have to get young in order to move foreward, so you get Gordon or Deng, Tyrus Thomas and Tyrus Thomas is going to be a star you Laker fans have no idea how good Thomas is and a first round draft pick and there you have it, what other team is going to offer you anything close? Plus Kobe is leaving in two years so what you get back is lessoned.
lets stop all the buffoonery Kobe (the best player in NBA) isn't going anywhere. no matter how dr. b (the idiot) say he will trade kobe, that won't happen cause he can't make that decision kobe does his no trade clause ties the lakers hands if he doesnt go to a contender he will just stay until he can opt out by6 then dr. b will give in aquire better talent the lakers will be winning kobe will sign an extension and this will all be behind us jermaine will be able to leave indy next summer and some star(not named bryant) will go in a fire sale the lakers will not give up bynum giving them everything they wanted all sides will be happy and for those of you questioning the lakers signings turiaf -hustler, plays with heart and energy, luke- system player work well in triangle, mihm - cant coach size ( lots of trashy big men last in league for size reasons only and center is the lost art in bball everyone playing on blacktops across america wants to play perimater even the big men and we see that in the game more today), you all have to remeber that teams that will over the cap can resign their own players for whatever but can only use two exception for free agents the resign these players to feild a complete team and also for trade reasons to make salaries match, trust that when a trade occurs cook and some of the other bums will be out when odom get healthy he would be out that's why we dont have kg now kwame contract is up this year

That crzy if the Laker to trade Kobe. They will regret it. There no other player of Kobe caliber beside L Jame may not come close.

Yes, trade Kobe and tell him not to let the door hit him on his way out.
Kobe is sealing the deal by insisting on leaving. The only option left to the Lakers is to get what they can.
Good riddance. Instead of more championships with Shaq his infantile ego brought us mediocrity.

Whoo! The judgement sure is tough here!!
Too bad people don't believe in forgiveness in this type of business or in America.

So, eat your so called poker face buss....
